Is there one? and if so, how do you program it?

I don't have time to read the manual and I'm not too familiar with the Kindle products.
Nope. I've had to call in to Amazon and have a couple of charges reversed. The best you can do is set the Parental control to not connect to your wireless without your wireless password (if you have one set). But there's not even a purchase confirmation - which sucks in my opinion.
Arghhhhh, thanks
We need a wife lock for ours. When she gets started, she can knock out a book a day.......lol
I have one and haven't really looked for a lock but haven't seen one either. How do you like it so far?
I've pondered getting one...love to know everyone's opinion about it in general.
I got one for my wife when they first came out. She absolutely loves it. If we are traveling, she can download two or three books to read or get online and check emails or go to facebook. To me the fire seems like a smaller ipad.
A question for anyone who might know? Is it necessary to download antivirus protection?
I love mine. It took some getting used to at first as far as reading it vs an actual book. The glare can be a problem but it's worth it for the LCD screen. I used to check books out from the library and this is so much more convenient to just download them and you are ready to go. I haven't been in a situation yet where I was reading and it went dead away from my charger.

I should caveat this by saying that I have an iPad and a 3rd gen Kindle (and the wifey has a matching set)...there's no Kindle Fire in my house.

However, I've played with them and they seem mostly great. I love the size, actually, I prefer the 7" size to the larger iPads. The biggest things I disliked were the proprietary Android build (set up to push you into Amazon's services, a la Apple) and the lack of a front-mounted camera. I use the camera on my iPad to let my kids video chat with grandparents...and the Fire doesn't give you that capability. The other thing, is I still prefer reading on the eInk screens versus the back lit screens of the iPad and Kindle Fire.
There is a password setting for the Kindle Fire (See below). My wife received one at Christmas and input her password on the same day. I hope this helps.

How to set password on the Kindle Fire: [Not purchases]

1. Go to your home screen, click on the `Quick Settings' icon.

2. Click on the `More' icon, now `Security'.

3. Go to the `Lock Screen Password' and slide the switch to `On'. You will be asked to set your password.

If you want to turn the password off in the future, go back to the Lock Screen Password section.
I bought one for my father for his birthday. my oldest daughter is 11 and one of the grandparents got one for her. I just want to lock out adult websites and such so nothing pops up she doesn't need to see.

My father loves his so far ( hates gadgets but loves the fire)

A girl at work showed me a website you can check out books as well so you don't have to buy them. I'll get it from her and post it.
