Stainbrook is leaving WMU.

Twitter broke the news.
Sorry for your loss. Any word on where he is headed? Probably too soon.

However, as an EMU fan, I couldn't be jumping for more joy after the dismantling of the other two Michigan MAC teams. I hope we can finally figure it out and get our first Michigan MAC trophy in Hoops next year.

Did he use his red shirt at WMU?
No, never redshirted.

They wanted to redshirt him last year, his frosh season, but he was too talented on offense and we lost Kool and Co. the previous year...hence he played.

No clue where he is going.

He is from Ohio...Cleveland area I believe. Closer to home maybe?

Hawkins is saying he will help him with the transferring process.
WMU now can honor their incoming freshman (7) without having to send one to prep school.

We oversigned for 2012 by one scholly.
The guy really seemed to be an enigma- the "Napolean Dynamite gone to seed" comment was a classic but not only didn't he look like a player he didn't act like one. Seemed to be at war with everyone- hope a change of scenery does him good. I know I won't miss him- he was killing us this year until he was inexplicably pulled, not to return til the waning minutes.
After reading the comments by the Coach I wonder who's idea the transfer was?

UDM! Where else? Haven't you guys learned anything?!
Just to clarify, a couple people on Twitter and other message boards have been saying what a tough day it was for WMU because "whitfiled is playing football and Stainbrook is transferring."

Whitfield was a senior this year. He has exhausted all 4 years of his bball eligibility and taking advantage of the NCAA rule that allows him to play a 5th year in a different sport.

People are making it sound like he left the team and wants to play football. His collegiate bball career was over after we lost to Kent last week.

Those restaurants will suffer greatly.
I think he's taking his harmonicas and going back on tour.

Matt is keeping is classy. This should answer anyone's questions:

"Thanks WMU, it was fun. And know it wasn't my decision to leave."

Surprised by that response? I thought maybe mutual but sounds like he was asked to leave.
Unfortunately I am not shocked

Or Cleveland State. Gary Waters can make a living taking MAC transfers.

I bet he has an asst coach watch the 'waiver wire' (or transfer wire) looking for players out of the MAC.
