better, Hoover wins games.
I think we may have to hold off on that invite to App State, it seems they are awaiting an ACC invite.

Quote:3. Now onto the stuff you’ve all been waiting for. I (along with two other alumni) talked at length with Chancellor Peacock about the possible move to a new conference. His number one concern (which we’ve heard before) is travel costs. He knows it’s not realistic for us to fly all of our athletic teams half way across the country very often. He says he has a great relationship with the AD at ECU, who apparently told him they regret ever making the move to C-USA.

He added that he has not talked with anyone with the C-USA about joining the conference and we have no invitation (contrary to the random newspaper reports–he said he’d like to know where they get their information). Based on everything he said, it seems somewhat unlikely that C-USA ends up being our new conference. I’m sure if we were to be intived, that it would be heavily taken into consideration, but he doesn’t seem to be favorable of the option right now (minus the rivalry with ECU, which he is really energized about).

Chancellor Peacock said that “if he was a betting man” he would say that we will be creating and joining a new conference to move up to the FBS level. That conference would hopefully include schools like James Madison, UNC-C, and (if convinced) ECU. He said the focus would be on creating a new regional east coast conference that would lower travel costs and create rivalries.

He also mentioned that the only conference that would get him to immediately accept an intive to (if offered) would be the ACC… he openly admits that this wouldn’t happen. However, he did say that joining the ACC would be an eventual goal after we moved up to FBS and had the time to prove ourselves.
Chancellor Peacock discusses ASU conference options

joining the ACC would be an eventual goal after we moved up to FBS, I found this statement funny in light of some App State poster pointing out that UNCC would use the 'belt as a gateway conference. Et tu, Brute?
I like that teams/schools think that conferences will continue to grow to include 20 plus members after some time. 03-banghead

Eventually these larger conferences will implode on themselves and common sense will regain control of this burning house.

So now it's ECU in a conference that will be ECU and a bunch of FCS schools, labaled as an FBS conference..... Maybe they could convience Marshall to join, they are only a few years removed from FCS status, they would fit right in.

I think all this movement will require, at some point, the NCAA start enforcing thier rules for maintaining FBS statue.
App State's Chancellor isn't always right in his choices or his direction. This is the same guy that personally approved this recruiting video a few years ago.

Is that their fight song??? 04-rock
I think that may be misinterpreted a bit. He is certainly not awaiting an ACC invite, he is just concerned about travel costs and made a statement that unless the ACC comes calling, he's not going to jump at anything immediately. It was a hyperbole, hence the statement about him openly stating that it is not going to happen.

The goal of ASU, ECU and every other school in NC would be to be in the ACC. It is the heart of ACC country. The difference is that App would have to earn a bid to any conference with their play on the field, not get scooped up regardless of performance because they are in a big city.

It is actually played in full after every ASU first down. The PA goes silent, the band plays the tune and the entire crowd sings all the words. It's quite a sight to see! 03-lmfao

Sadly I am unable to ascertain whether this is a joke or not...

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself. That video is terrible. Really tests the "there is no such thing as bad publicity" theory.
OK- enough- the App State people are kidding you. The "Hot,Hot,Hot" video was done in an audio video class by someone eight to ten years ago. Was never used for recruiting. Was never sung at football games. Part of it, like "Proud as a Peacock" is a reference to our Prez being Ken Peacock, for instance. Everyone in the world brings this up every few months as something new they have found.

Peacock made that statement about the only conference that he would immediately say sure to being the ACC, is because he would be in wacky world if it happened. About like any of your schools Prez would say yes to the SEC immediately. I took it that he was kidding. If anyone is afraid that we are going to jump to the ACC within our lifetimes, please e-mail me so I can sell you some real estate.
