As previously mentioned, KSU has 5 in:

125 - Bedleyon
141 - Small
149 - Miller
197 - Witt
285 - Barlow

Shuster, Tice, and Newburg have to be selected in order to wrestle at Nationals. For Wednesday's selection of "wild cards", here is a synopsis from a wrestling site that lists the favorites for selection at each weight class:

157- 4 spots

1. A, Sulzer EMU- 25 CR, 24 RPI (2nd MAC/1 AQ)
2. M. Shuster KST- 26 CR, 31 RPI (3rd MAC/1 AQ)
3. J. Morse ILL- 29 CR (7th B10/6 AQ)
4. T. Churchard PUR- 31 CR, 27 RPI (8th B10/6 AQ)
5. J. Moore UVA- 23 CR, 15 RPI (DNP ACC/3 AQ)

165- 4 spots

1. K. Blevins APP- 12 CR 18 RPI (2nd SoCon/1 AQ)
2. M. Lewandowski BUF- 22 CR, 16 RPI (2nd MAC/1 AQ)
3. C. Lear BUCK- 31 CR, 30 RPI (5th EIWA/4 AQ)
4. B. Jordan WISC- 9 CR, 5 RPI (DNP B10/ 8 AQ)
5. M. Kaylor BING- 24 CR, 27 RPI (DNP CAA/4 AQ)
6. T. Wilps PITT- 28 RPI (2nd EWL/1 AQ)

184- 4 spots

1. L. Rebertus NAVY- 13 CR, 9 RPI (5th EIWA/4 AQ)
2. C. Magrum OHST- 9 CR, 10 RPI (8th B10/7 AQ)- Inj.
3. C. Newburg KST- 22 CR, 25 RPI (4th MAC/3 AQ)
4. M. Stoll NDST- 32 CR, 16 RPI (3rd West Reg/2 AQ)
5. S. Patrick STAN- 27 RPI (3rd P12/2 AQ)
6. K. Radford AZST- 30 CR, 15 RPI (4th P12/2 AQ)
7. C. Croy HAR- 33 CR, 28 RPI (6th EIWA/4 AQ)

Confirming what I suspected, I don't think there is any way Tice gets in. Shuster has a good chance. I thought Newburg would have received one of the 3 AQ, but that didn't happen... He has a chance, but I don't know what effect, if any, his getting pinned twice at the tournament will have on his chances.

Regardless, 5-7 is a respectable number and consistent with recent years.
We got 7 qualifiers. Schuster and Newberg got in.

I told you scoring tournaments was tough. The OAC declared Ohio Northern the winner and then changed it the next day and gave it to Mount Union after finding an error.

I hope a few All-Americans come out of this group, but valuable experience will be had by all and 7 is an impressive showing. Next years team could definitely be better than this years team, with Wheeler stepping in @ 174lbs, Witt moving down to 184lbs, and Kilgore returning @ 197lbs, plus Small/Shuster/Miller/Mitcheff all return. Should be interesting to see who the HWT will be next year, as well 125lbs/165lbs. Ross Tice was more than disappointing this year.
Lambert/Burden,

Whatever happened to Adam Cogar (197lbs) from Barberton and Sean Collins (133lbs) from Coshocton, as they were both very solid and could have definitely helped this year?

Also, I see they have Sam Wheeler listed on the roster currently, even though he is sitting out this season, but I don't see - The most accomplished wrestler in the group is Jamie Clark (Medina, Ohio), who will have to sit out this season after transferring from Illinois. A three-time Ohio state champion at St. Ed’s, Clark will have three years of eligibility at 141 pounds.

Do they just not have him listed or did he not end up transferring to KSU? Because, man, if they add him to the starting lineup next year they will definitely be better than this years team. Push Small back down to 133 and Mitcheff down to 125lbs, putting him @ 141lbs and leaving Miller @ 149lbs and Shuster @ 157lbs?

Keep in mind that Tice was out for 6 weeks with an injury that required surgery. I think he did well given the circumstances. For AA, Bedelyon and Miller are very legitimate contenders. Small and Barlow (I think Kilgore's absence has hurt him this year) are ranked outside of the top 8 in their respective classes, but could threaten. Shuster, Newburg, and Witt are not AA threats but could score some valuable points.

For next year, I think Mitcheff dropping down to wrestle at his more natural weight of 125 will help him. At 133, there will be Opfer (senior) and 2 redshirt freshman (Gray and Bauer) that have potential. I think the following will stay at their respective weight classes: Small 141, Miller 149, and Shuster 157. There are a lot of options at 165 with Sasfy and Marsh having the most experience. Wheeler and Johnson will be at 174. At 184, I think Newburg and Witt will see time unless the weight cut is too much for Witt, who could wrestle at 197. Killer at 197. KSU has a HWT recruit, Mimmo Lytle, that just won his second Ohio championship and Coach A has mentioned that Kilgore may wrestle HWT at times.

The coaching staff has added a lot of depth and it will take some time to figure out the final 10 come March. It's a good problem to have and I think we will see a number of different line-ups. Of course, much can change between now and November.

Thanks for the detailed response Lambert58. That is great depth @ every weight class. Wondering if Mitcheff can take it to the next level @ 125lbs next year? Great to hear that Mimmo Lytle has won a 2nd state championship @ HWT. Is Marrero going to be a backup for his entire KSU career or is there thought he could see some mat time? I seem to remember that Clay Wenger was a big time recruit @ the middle weights, so maybe he has regressed, as now would be the time for him to step up @ 165lbs?

I wonder what happened to Clark, as Andrassy tagged him as the biggest impact in this years recruriting class? You can't fault Cogar for focusing on academics.
I don't know. I think transfers receive more attention than what they sometimes warrant. Although some (50%?) seem to stick, a lot of others don't. With Clark's credentials, you certainly welcome him to the fold and if things pan out, great. If not, well, you gave the kid a chance and it just wasn't meant to be. I think I read that Cogar was a pre-med major (or dentistry)??

You're welcome. Glad to see more people showing an interest in the wrestling program. Until today, I hadn't looked to see what Marrero (14-12) and Wenger (23-15) have done in open tournaments this year. I wasn't excluding them based on anything that they have done or not done, rather focusing on the "bigger" names at the respective weight classes. I'm sure they will have an opportunity to contribute.
