Not sure how many of you checked out ESPN's football recruiting rankings but they rated MAC recruits higher than Scout or Rivals. MAC had highest rated HS recruit in North Dakota(NIU) & Nebraska(OH), #3 in Wisky(BSU) 2 in the top 10(#10 NIU), #9 in Illinois(NIU)& 13 of the top 40 , #8 in Kansas(NIU) #11 Indiana(BSU) & 4 of top 30, #12 MN(WMU)#16 MI(CMU) 6 of top 30, 12 of top 40. Miami signed#26 in So Car & 4 of the top 40 in that state. Overall very positive for the MAC.

Sounds like they're preparing for the day when the MAC is some of their primary content.

Yea I bet the MAC would suddenly become a "powerhouse" according to ESPN if that happened.

Nah they mock the BE in football all the time and they own them so they will say what they think. However you might get more content on the network if they own you...
This makes NIU look like they have a top 5 recruiting class in the nation. Where are all of Toledo recruits coming from, if they are the supposed #1 MAC recruiiting school for 2012?

Didn't want to leave the impression they didn't rank Toledo's recruits highly:

IL: #26 & #49
MI: #36, #43. #44
OH: #67, #88
PA: #19, #25, #63. #76. #81
maybe not as good in OH as in years past but very strong in PA, MI and solid in IL.

I wonder what Eric Page was ranked coming out of high school... It's the work ethic, and how a player develop's that makes them a star in college. These numbers, although are a measuring stick of recruiting, aren't a perfect measuring stick for success at the next level. So I'm okay with not having top 10 players from a state. Heck! Everyone knows the top 1000 in Ohio and Pensylvania are better than the best guy in Illinois05-stirthepot

You should know that most of NIU's top talent is from out of state. The last 2 MAC MVP's hailed from the state of Indiana, Chad Spann & Chandler Harnish. OT Doug Free, likely the best NIU lineman of the last 10 years is a Wisconsinite, NIU continues to spread the Huskie recruiting footprint west; afterall the 8 Great Plains/Upper Midwest states(WI, MN, ND,SD,NE, KS, MO & IA) have only 8 FBS programs or as many as the state of Ohio.

LeFevour too. He worked out well for us, thanks Illinois.

Hey you guys had your shot at him! He only received offers from us and BSU. Probably wasn't worth your time, he was only a 2 star QB.
1. If Dan lefevour was only a two star recruit, then it just goes to show you how ridiculous recruiting rankings really are. That guy owned the MAC for four years.

2. CMU should ship westendorp to niu as payment for getting Dan from Illinois. Westendorp would prolly fit NIU's offense much better than the pro style going on at CMU.

Problem with the ratings for Lefevour is he was a RB and converted to a QB later. He didn't have a whole lot of film or attention as a QB.

Unfortunately AJ will get buried behind Niznak, Kater and Radcliff. I would agree to send him but he's a nice kid and a great student. The thing is, all but Radcliff are very mobile QBs. I think (hope!) we'll see more of that in the future.

A running quarterback was a completely foreign concept to Joe Novak. So even if NIU would have recruited him he would have been forced to play a pro-style offense until Jerry Kill came around.
I totally forgot he was a RB. Good reminder.

You think his high school coach is scratching his head?

I thought AJ would be a stud in CMU's spread offense. But that changed with Enos. Radcliffe certainly has an arm though.

The MWC & CUSA have left them, the BE likely will when they get a contract offer from NBC Sports and will more than likely add more teams to their league. THe Big 10 has their own network, therefore less programming for ESPN. CBS & Fox broadcast several Big 12 and 12 PAC games. Less college football inventory for ESPN unless they want to start broadcasting FCS games.

LeFevour was 2nd team All-MAC in 2008.Lost to Ball State, EMU, and FAU at the end of the season.

Yeah, Ball St. went 12-0 that year with Nate Davis.

But we are still talking about a player that went 31-4 against the MAC in 4 years. Took his team to a bowl game all 4 years, going 2-2. In short, he shredded the MAC.

(I will now throw up in my mouth as I have defended CMU)
