I had a basset-chow mix. He passed away at 15 a couple of years ago.
He was long-haired red with a long body and a long tail. He had short legs like a basset and his front legs were very basset-like (turned in).
He had a long snout, too.
He was a really good dog. He was sweet but he sounded FIERCE!
He looked kinda like this guy.

That does sounds like a cool dog. So does Uofmbluegray's old pup. I want to own a basset at some point. Sometimes fat, lazy, calm dogs are the best ones.
My old roommate had a corgi. That dog was freakin awesome. My lab mix would hurdle that the corgi all day long. I'm hoping to have another corgi at some point in my life, too. They are cool little dogs.

as a basset owner for the past 12 years I can only say that your assessment is not exactly on point. they are lazy and calm only sometimes. my female is a total spaz.
fwiw they only get fat if the owner lets them.
now be advised I'm bumping the dog picture thread in a shameless attempt to get more views of my pups sounds asleep on top of one another.
