That would have been the worst possible scenario for MSU. Any tournament appearance gave Lusk an immediate 5 year extension per his contract

True story. And fans have been wanting him gone for at least 2 or 3 years already. Their attendance has been down because of Lusk.
Their biggest problem as mentioned previously is leadership and its lack of willingness to invest and spend on the program. It seems like maybe they relied too much on JQH and after his passing they didn't have the donations and deep pockets to help. Maybe I'm wrong and the money is there but the leadership doesn't want it.
Shocker fans rooting for your Redbird buddies?
Condolences for your Redbird loss.

70 years of history is hard to erase. I think most Shocker fans will continue to follow the old league for a few years all while thanking our lucky stars that we got out when we did.
I totally get that. I'd say that I still try to keep up with what's going on in Conference USA, but that league is not the league we knew just a few years ago. Mostly, I just check in on UAB and Southern Miss. Lot of history with those two schools for us.

The Valley's longest NCAA drought... 20 years... lies with the Redturds.
