Orange going after Chow?

Wednesday, December 15, 2004 - USC offensive coordinator Norm Chow finished second at Stanford and spurned Brigham Young last week during their respective coaching searches, but that doesn't mean there might not be another option.
Last week, Syracuse gave coach Paul Pasqualoni a vote of confidence to return for a 15th season; however, the school president said the Orange's new athletics director would be empowered to evaluate the football program and make decisions.
USC senior associate athletics director Daryl Gross will be introduced as Syracuse's athletics director Friday, which means he could have the power to fire Pasqualoni and, if desired, hire Chow.
But Chow said he doesn't think he'll be coaching anywhere else next season.
"There's no job open," Chow said. "I'm not looking to leave. We'll see what happens. I'm just trying to win the next game and see what happens.
"I don't have another job. I enjoy it here. We'll see what happens. I like being here."
Chow said he was disappointed he didn't get the Stanford job, after finishing second to Pittsburgh coach Walt Harris.
"Of course I was, but that lasts two minutes, and you move on," he said. "This is a good university. It's a fun place to be."

Will New SU Athletic Director Bring New Football Coach?
On Friday, Syracuse University is expected to introduce Daryl Gross as it's new athletic director. Gross was most recently the senior associated athletic director at the University of Southern California. Sources tell us that Gross will meet with all of the SU coaches in the afternoon and will them hold a press conference. And reports from Los Angeles say that one of the first things Gross may do is fire SU football coach Paul Pasqualoni and replace him with USC assistant coach Norm Chow. Chow has been the Trojans offensive coordinator for the last four years and is considered one of the hottest coaching prospects in the country. He's also coached at N.C. State and BYU.
