Has the history of the Big East taught us nothing? Having a hige schism between your hoops members and football members is an awful idea..

Yet the CDOA posters, in an attempt to seem hip, are now suggesting adding six hoops schools to their 24 member football conference..

Wow! They are mesmerized by their delusions of grandeur.
Can we count the MAC as a 20-team conference, then (FAU, Missouri State, Temple, UMass, SIU, Chicago State, Evansville, and Hartwick)?
The mistake right off the bat was not having CUSA just expand with about 6 schools to go from 8 to 14.

CUSA+6 from the MWC:

1) It would have effectively killed off the MWC, its prime competition for best non-AQ conference.

2) At 14 schools the per school revenue requirements are less than what you find with an 18, 20 or beyond conference.

3) Plenty of room at the Inn should the Big East fall apart. Notre Dame leaves for the ACC and takes UConn while the Big XII nabs Louisville and Rutgers...where does that leave everybody else?

They could head to the alliance where its already ready made for a coast-to-coast format.

The talk of going to 24 or 30 with basketball only schools is absurd. Doesn't the alliance know its 1 automatic bid per conference? No school wants to be in a 30 team conference with only 1 bid.

Hmm, from Mass to Hawaii...what could go wrong?

It's working so well for the Great West Conference (Say, why not just bring them on board too!)

Notre Dame won't join a conference...in their opinion, even the SEC isn't fit to loosen their sandal strap.
