"For those wondering, the events of this week involving the merger of Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference have not gone unnoticed at North Texas.

The athletic director of Tulane was in the DFW area last week touring four stadiums: TCU, American Airlines Center, the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and Apogee Stadium. Also in the group was a representative from Conference USA."

I beleive this could have just been Tulane gathering some ideas as to what to do with their proposed on campus stadium.
I think you're right... unless TCU, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Dallas Cowboys are all expansion candidates.

Tulane is doing an on campus stadium and I guess the CUSA rep was just killing time.
If a CUSA Rep visited UNT's football stadium along with a Tulane Rep, I seriously doubt the CUSA Rep was there to help Tulane get ideas for their proposed OCS. It may have been an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone as the old saying goes.
Most likely...

They came to get ideas for their facility and they were hosted by someone from the CUSA office located just down the road in Dallas.

Yep...most likely folks from the CUSA office have already seen it up close. Probably at its Grand Opening against a (then) CUSA team. Point is, they're familiar with it already.

Whatever. They were there and apparently something about UNT was of interest to them. Draw your own conclusions.
I would be willing to bet, regardless of the reason, that's the first time an official from Tulane has ever set foot on the UNT campus. Hey, maybe Tulane is looking at the possibility of joining the Sun Belt Conference. Just saying.........

Okey dokey
Where would they put a stadium. Their campus is only 110 acres and is completely surrounded.

Tulane?

Right here... http://maps.google.com/?ll=29.944769,-90...18&vpsrc=6

It's a pretty tight fit, but at 30,000 it'll work. http://tulanestadium.com/

That will be a tight fit. Looks like they are building it over the practice field, tennis courts, and some modular housing. It will leave them w/ a 65 yard practice field. Still, it should be worth it having an on campus field. Some of our fans complain about parking at our stadium, but at this one, there will be absolutely no parking for 30k.

Dallas Stars as well.....the MWC/CUSA is going to make a big push into college hockey as well 03-lmfao
ESPN has released a list given to them by conference sources with Top 10 eastern teams being considered. 4 of them are SunBelt teams. MTSU, FIU, UNT, and WKU
I think you'll see WKU/MT as a package deal

that is probably a given since no team is leaving the BE, SEC, ACC, Big 12, PAC, or Big 10 and by default that leaves WAC teams, Belt Teams and perhaps one or two that might be willing to leave the MAC

Using Tulane attendance math, the crowd at that stadium will reach 150k.
