She slams the Big East and fails to mention the $20 million. Why do they have her working the Big East? She hates the conference and she's nasty.

Another chica trying to make money by being 'opinionated' about sports... Where have we seen this shtick before.
Why didn't Andrea do a video blog (vlog?) for this occasion? Is the female-patterned baldness kicking in sooner than expected?
Wow - was that journalism? Guess fact checking and being accurate aren't part of reporting anymore. I know, I know, this was a poorly researched op-ed piece. Still, pretty disgusting that she couldn't get many facts straight.
Who on ESPN DOESN'T slam the Big East?
Right....Brian Bennett slammed the Big East prior to her. I think it is a pre-requisite for the job.

Brian was much better than she is. I think he was a local Louisville writer before working at ESPN. He covered the conference in a relatively fair manner.

She just mocks the Big East every day. Sometimes it's justified. Usually she slants the news like Pravda used to do for the Soviet Union.
Well let's see.....Andrea is a University of Florida Alum and Fan AND used to work for the Orlando Sentinal......

So what would be annoying and obnoxious about that? 05-stirthepot
It doesn't do anybody any good dragging that fight out. Both sides negotiated, BE gets $20 million and WVU gets to leave a year early.........seems to me like a dead story.
Andrea Adelson isn't a reporter. She's simply Reason Number 623 "Why I the Big East to sign on with NBC Sports"

Once again, ESPiN is brazenly trying to lower the Big East's worth by constantly reporting only negative news and intentionally ignoring the other side.
That BE blog is beyond a joke. I started there, but eventually came here instead. I wasn't even reading the articles anyway, just going into the comments to discuss. Everyone with a heartbeat knows that (and why) ESPN hates the BE. Its as obvious and predictable as the sun rising or the rain falling. Adelson, of course, totes the company line. THAT is her job, to slam on the BE constantly. What's really fun though is to see her occasionally called on it, and try to dance the 'unbiased reporter' routine. LOL NBC, please deliver us.

She is just doing her job, which is downing playing the value of the new Big East to justify ESPN low ball contract that we are fixing to get! 05-stirthepot

She's awful. I cannot stand her...Brian B. was better.
In non Andrea defense of ESPN for a moment... after ignoring the Big East on Sports Center and ESPN News for the vote to raise the exit penalty, the vote to expand, the expansion of the first five, the WVU win for the Big East in the BCS standings, the addition of Navy... they actually covered the addition of Memphis without negativity in the news for a change... though by that night the ESPN blog pointed out their brutal football record repeatedly and bashed the league.

ESPN will have to bid for parts of the Big East though, because the basketball isn't going to lose its identity, there are still plenty of BIG NAMED programs left, plus Boise State has been their darling, and because they cannot afford to legitimize NBC Sports Network... if NBC-SN continues to pick up pieces of this and that in sports, the channel will become a viable option for the new NFL Thursday night games the league voted to approve over Super Bowl week. If NBC-SN scored the NFL, they become a threat to ESPN and would kill ratings for Thursday night college football, ESPN has spent years building. So ESPN will attempt to pick up as much of the Big East as they can; though NBC will give them a fight on all of it, while FOX and CBS want the basketball too.

For those that have been downplaying a Big East television contract lately; look no farther than record money for an FCS contract yesterday -- if that doesn't say the Big East in the bidding of the open market, will score its payday - nothing does!
I don't get it, wasn't it announced a week or two ago that the NFLN will get the extra thursday night games as well?? I've seen posts in a couple of threads to the contrary. Pretty sure NBC Sports is out of the running for the NFL.

The league owns the NFL network, the only money they get from the games on there on Thursdays are from people who subscribe to the channel already. The league voted to make 4 games a year into basically a WEEKLY Thursday occurrence; and then voted to give NBC exclusive rights of the NFL on Thanksgiving Thursday. The NFL can decide at anytime to put the Thursday night schedule out for bid, and NBC Sports was the one encouraging the expansion of the Thursday night package by the league and is believed to be the only major bidder. Though the NFL has been hesitant, because Verses was basically hockey and fishing... well they've gone out and re-branded and added content with Olympic sport coverage, PGA Golf, the MLS, NCAA hockey, more Notre Dame content, Wimbledon, FCS football, and more... so picking up one of the big six conferences or landing the BCS bowls and national title game contract between NBC and NBC-SN would be major feathers in their cap and likely secure the NFL and ESPN does not want the NFL on Thursday nights on regular cable!
Rest assured Andrea is being puppet-ed by ESPN. It's no coincidence that the four letter network moved a clueless with zero ties to The Big East, just after The Big East told them to take their contract offer and shove it. Adelson is much easier to control than a seasoned professional.

Andrea is more concerned about pleasing her editor than actually reporting facts. Keep in mind pleasing here editor means bashing The Big East at every opportunity, even if she is supposed to be a "Big East" blogger.

I have always looked at her as a clueless broad from O-town, glad she hasn't disappointed.

The BE sure got kicked around by negotiating a $20 million contract buyout in return for WVU's defiant liberty ... My lord, that league just can't get a break... Oh wait, you forgot to mention that...

I mean, it's like the BE just rolled over and took it on the chin by accepting 20 mill as opposed to litigating an undoubtedly time-consuming and expensive lawsuit, which it wasn't guaranteed to prevail in...

Great unbiased reporting there Adelson...

Seriously, do you not have a clue or what?
Adelson has been much better than Bennett and it isn't even close. This isn't the most glowing piece about the Big East and I do agree that there is an ESPN agenda here. But quickly you guys forget that every Bennett post was saying the exact same things.

BB wasn't any better, dude. He was just more subtle with his derogatory statements...

This is one thing I will not miss about The BEast. I'll be glad to see the last of all the negative publicity from ESPiN...
