Quote:Since President Obama became chief executive, the national debt has risen almost $5 trillion. But how much of that was because of policies passed by Obama, and how much was caused by the financial crisis, the continuation of past policies and other effects? For this analysis, we worked with the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities to attach a price tag to the legislation passed by Obama and his predecessor. George W. Bush’s major policies increased the debt by more than $5 trillion during his presidency. Obama has increased the debt by less than $1 trillion.

Ultimately though, it's Obama's fault for not getting rid of the bush policies once he got into office.

Yeah, if he'd have only done that, we'd have a brazillion dollars in surplus by now. 01-wingedeagle
I'm loosely quoting Obama here...under bush every man woman and child has a tax burden of over 30k...thats unAmerican.

Now under Obama the burden is over 200k and the national debt has risen almost 7 TRILLION DOLLARS.

I'm sorry...maybe I didn't understand the question.

It's been clear for a while now that neither Bush nor Obama would fit under the description of "fiscal conservative." The Washington Post cheerleading their preferred candidate by producing 'He's Not as Bad as Bush' columns doesn't change that.

What do you mean by a "tax burden"?

And sorry, but your numbers don't even come close to adding up. To go from 30k per person to 200k per person you need an increase of nearly 7 times. That hasn't happened.

When Obama took office the National Debt was 10.6 trillion. It's now 15.3 trillion. An increase of 4.7 trillion. Not quite 7.

According to current figures, each citizens share of the National Debt is just over $49,000.

"Who's" ?

As for your assessment of Bush, not many here are thrilled with him. It's complete irony, and a clear demonstration of their ignorance, that the left despises him so much when he played directly to them. His policies mirror LBJ.

Bush didn't get our debt up to over 16 trillion dollars.

Try using logic.

Nevermind. I know that's an impossibility for you.

Yeah, amazing how we can fault someone who is on the right, yet they blindly follow anyone with a D behind their name like mindless sheep.

Yes, it should be whose. I will leave it unchanged and hang my head in shame.

He's trying to increase the debt ceiling by another 1.2 trillion, light brite. Try using math. What's 15.3 + 1.2?
It's been said that Obama has spent more money than all the combined money spent by every president before him and I have heard zero denials for the left. We all know Bush spent a lot, but even Obama can't raise this subject because he's worse, he knows he's worse, and mentioning it only brings the subject back to him.

Not surprising you would not be able to comprehend what was said in the original post.

It's also worth noting that people like Krugman are insisting the Gov't should spend more.

Yes I did, it said Obama only increased the debt by less than a trillion. Off the top of my head, Obama spent almost a trillion on the stimulus, he recently asked congress for another trillion or so, and his wife spent another 3 or 4 trillion trying to act like us commoners.

Oh, you're right, obamacare was supposed to cut the deficit by trillions. How did I miss that?

Rebel...why do you have to a complete and utter tool and never admit when you're wrong about anything...but instead you just change the subject/issue?

You stated something that was factually wrong...so you're either stupid, mistaken, or a bald-faced liar. Just admit it for once.

Yes, I totally believe that the National Debt will hit 16 trillion while Obama is still in office. But that doesn't change the FACT that it isn't 16 trillion now.

No, that's not what it said. It said his policies increased it by 1 trillion of the 4.7 trillion that it has increased during his time in office.

And if you believe Michelle has spent 3-4 trillion you rank much lower on the scale than a commoner! 03-lmfao

And psssst...Obamacare hasn't totally started yet.

If you're totally, absolutely, without a doubt, positively sure the debt will hit 16 trillion then the debt is 16 trillion.
