Jacksonville would be welcomed. But I have seen nothing about their interest.
Look for conferences like the ovc and little south to continue to avoid the University of North Alabama. Why would you want the new kid to come in and within a year be kicking the a$$es of just about everyone in the conference? Stick with the campbell soups and the stetson hats and stay the heck away from GOOD programs. 03-razz
That's crazy talk. If North Alabama moved to FCS and had any interest in joining a conference, the BSC would snap them up in a heartbeat. We are desperate for membership and aren't going to be too picky. What's the hold up for North Alabama University?
With the news of the Big South and ASUN doing a joint cooperation of football? North Alabama sounds like they are getting an invite to join ASUN, and the Big South for football only. There are talks that some D2 schools in the area might be looked at. Indiana PA, Kutztown, West Chester or Long Island-Post could be worked in to help out Monmouth for football, and NJ Tech for other sports. If Liberty gets an invite to FBS? Both ASUN and Big South needs to get football member schools up now. Jacksonville, Campbell and Stetson might not be ready until several years down the road, and others who are thinking of adding football like Lipscomb, High Point, North florida and FGCU will not be ready in the next 5 to 10 years. Other D2 schools that could be targets are Columbus State (thinking of adding football), Bellarmine (thinking of adding football), West Georgia, Valdosta State, Florida Tech, West Florida, Catawba, Carson-Newman, UNC=Pembroke (independent in football at D2), Newberry and several others.

With Kennesaw St and North AL headed to the ASUN and NCAT headed to the CAA the Big South will be down to 6 football schools. Could a scheduling agreement be set up with another conference or expansion be an option? I know some dont like D2 call-ups but West GA and Valdosta would keep the conference in GA and 2 competitive programs.
