Per Allen Trieu on twitter. Wow!
That's good news, especially considering he committed to EMU right after visiting Miami. EMU now has great depth at RB with Sherrer, White, Green, Brumfield, Hill, and Lewis.

I believe I also saw that Lewis was Academic All-State. Hard to top that.
Scout confirms the commitment.
Dear Friends,
You beat me to the punch! I was looking at the Western prospects website, and it just popped up as committing to Eastern. Very good news indeed.
wooo! good news. nice find Eaglesam!

I saw Juwan's article on I believe the Miami Scout or Rivals site.

The kid is a great player, student and person.

Congrats to Coach English (and Mike Hart) and welcome Juwan Lewis to EMU!!!
LEWIS BREAKS A LOT OF TACKLES, COULD BE OUR POWER BACK EVENTUALLY. BUT BARRING INJURIES, COULD BE TOUGH TO CRACK THE LINEUP THIS COMING SEASON. TREMENDOUS DEPTH AT RB. TIME WILL TELL!

NICE PROBLEM TO HAVE!
Yeh I don't expect much from Lewis this year (in fact, I hope he redshirts), but both Sherrer and White are entering their final seasons. Lewis could see quite a bit of playing time in 2013, complimenting Greene. As you said Dennis, it's a nice problem to have.
EagleSam:

Could you post your list of 3 star recruits (recruits who were rated 3 stars by one or more recruiting sites).

Maybe start a new thread so we can find it (so it doesn't get lost in a long thread).

Thanks,

I'm going to toss out a question out of left field.

EMU doesn't have a really big back to play up back, do short yardage, etc. (M*rrow are you still in Lincoln? 05-stirthepot).

Lewis isn't really tall (5'10'-5'11) and about 210 (may have read that he was higher).

If he is say 5' 10+" and 220 that is also FB size as it equates to say 230 - 235 lbs on a 6 footer

I could see him playing up and Greene behind him on some sets.
I assume the Miami folks are stunned.

He visited EMU the weekend of the 13th and Miami this past weekend and picked EMU.

I'm thinking that Dr. Martin, Dr. Gragg, Coach English and Coach Hart are doing a great job selling the university - it is really a team effort.
Once a school that is in EMU's position gets a little momentum, things take a big swing for the positive !

Now is the time to pounce, while the recruiting trail is hot. This is by far the best recruiting class and most publisized that I can even remember.

The only thing that keeps running through my pessimistic mind is this: Ron English has given up on the QB position because he feels his ticket out of EMU is coming after a successful next season, therefor there is not a GIANT effort to gain a QB commitment in this class.

I UNDERSTAND this is CRAZY TALK, I just cant help but find myself always thinking of this everytime I look at this class. Infact, if this would be true 1. We give RE more credit for being a mastermind than he deserves 2. It would be a death wish to his coaching career.

Just thought I would share some of my pessimistic crazy thinking for you guys ! It will be interesting to see how the rest of this class finishes with momentum running HIGH !
Great! Having Coach Hart on our staff is helping. 04-bow04-bow

I can't wait to see the final list. We should have a count down in days for those still on the fence. Time is running out.
Tremendous pull!
Dear Rip20,
In regard to Coach English, this recruiting class for the most part will probably be red-shirted, so their impact will not be immediate. If, Eastern has a good season this coming fall (seven or eight wins) that should continue the excitement, and bring continued success on the recruiting end, but I would have to disagree with your premise that this is some scheme thought out by Coach English to leave Eastern.
We still may get a quarterback in this class..... If we don't, I don't look at it as the end of the world. I think it would be nice to get one that the staff feels will be of benefit to the team, but not to bring one in, just to have a quarterback in the recruiting class.

hahhaha i love the panic.

perhaps he just wasn't able to land another QB after Baker slipped through the cracks? we can't really tell how hard he was trying to recruit a specific position, but i think a verbal from a well-regarded QB in cali indicates he was giving it some effort.
No panic fellas. I even stated that this was pure crazy talk. Just something to chew on

I understand the majority of this class will be redshirted, however the thing that separates this class from others is that we actually do have impact players that can make an immediate impact.

And back to the qb thoughts... Regardless of what we get from here on out, I doubt I'm the only one that thinks a qb is a must... No team wants to be stuck throwing out a true freshman on to the field, and that might be what we are forced to do after this upcoming year... I don't see a current qb in our roster that will make an impact.

The qb position is a hard sell for EMU at this point. Not many qb's want to play in an offense that averages 9 passes per game. We need to become more balanced going forward, for the sake of both the product on the field and recruiting.
I agree with becoming more balanced. But, is our offense a product of what we have under center ? Or is this RE's ideal offense ? I'd venture to say he kind of has his hands tied in that aspect.

The only thing I agree with you on in your thread is Yes!!!! " This is crazy talk".
Why start a rumor that is about a year away and is not based on anything yet?
