What a sad, sad 3 months for JoePa, with the scandal and his declining health.

According to a tweet from The Citizen’s Voice of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Paterno is “gravely ill” and “near death“ also confirming BWI’s report that family and close friends have been summoned to the hospital to say their final goodbyes.
Weirdly enough, without his force-out he wouldn't have had some of the time he did get to spend with his family. Hard to believe it's only been 2 1/2 months that this all broke.
Conflicting stories flying out there, but at best he's gravely ill.

These two sentences pretty well says it all.

When the day and the hour come, RIP, Joe.

"Quoting individuals close to the family, The Washington Post reported on its website that Paterno remained connected to a ventilator, but had communicated his wishes not to be kept alive through any extreme artificial means. The paper said his family was weighing whether to take him off the ventilator on Sunday. "

Too many websites don't fact check.

Here is the Wash. Post's discussion of all of this.

In this day of social media an instant news access people want to be the one to be the 1st provide the scoop. If I had to guess I'm thinking they wanted to take him off the respirator but not before all family members were able to be there.

Sounds like it.

Truly amazing story is that the public did not learn of JoePa's lung cancer until November and two months later he is ready to meet the Lord.

I have a deceased cousin who had an even more sudden lung cancer death.

The doctors thought his symptoms were from something else and two weeks later he died of lung cancer.

What a way to end your life after so many years being in the news about your winning football program. My prayers are with him and his family..

Watch the sick media backtrack but still push that going to the police and AD about an ex coach ( who JoePa had little idea other than the reported incident) who was not under him taints the greatness of JoePa. The media tainted him no other rational informed individual God Bless him for all he has done for the folks in college football. There will never be another like him in big time college football. He got that college is first and football supplemented it. On a side note may the Board of Trustees and Sandusky rot in hell. And how come all those Philadelphia reporters who worked with pediphile Bill Conlan are still employed after they ripped JoePa for actually doing something as they sat and watched Conlin ?

But didn't he himself not know of it until mid November?
I don't get the idea that he even ran that program the last 5+ years. His players were constantly in trouble and doing whatever they want.

I think you're right about that. Only real knock is that JoPa didn't apparently follow up w/ his police report (and he did go to the police). But, even that is based on the unknown rather than the known.
