Lux was the absolute model of what a student-athlete should be. Guys of his all around caliber only come around once in a lifetime.

Lux still kills it at the alumni games too.

He was on my floor at Neptune, even the night after games he would come out and hang out with everyone. Incredibly down to earth guy. Pretty brainy too! He would not take the typical athlete classes.

Yes, lost to Texas Tech by 1 in an incredible game in 1996 with Hammell as coach. TJ had the flu.

Was that the last time NIU was in the tournament?

Yes it was. It was so awesome when they beat Detroit in the championship game, the student center lobby was packed around the TV with everyone watching. NIU was a basketball school.

NIU's gone a few times though, right?
