Why give Dog Killer a key to the city of Dallas???? Is Romo going to get a key to the city of Philadelphia?
I'm not a nutso dog lover like some here but the Vick story still makes me ill. Can't believe Philly is giving him all that money.

It wasn't an "official" key and the mayor is pizzed.
To be fair the guy did go to jail and pay his debt to society. How long should we make him wear a scarlett letter? Not defending the guy but he did what he is supposed to do and hasn't committed a crime since that we know of.

Watch the video and that will answer your question. He's a jerk.
he's a jerk but he has been to jail and is doing his part for animal right activism--possibly under duress, but it is being done... so i dont know. I dont like not seeing people given a second chance.

but i cannot see the video so i'll reserve any judgement.
He may have paid his debt but he has not changed. You don't have a stone cold soul then get warm and fuzzy. He feels nothing about the suffering of those dogs.
The ONLY thing Vick is sorry about is he got caught and had to go to jail. Had he been convicted in a city like Detroit he would probably still be in jail. As for second chances he got his by being allowed back into the NFL and given a $50M contract. By his attitude caught on camera he really does not care about anything other than himself. If he wasn't being forced to give of his time as part of his release condition he would NOT be voluntarily doing so because he wants to make amends. But that is okay because he is a NFL star. Win games and you are forgiven.
Just because a person has served their time (paid their debt to society as some like to throw around) doesn't mean the crime is forgiven or forgotten. Nor does it prevent it from hindering them in future endeavors.

All you 'paid his debt' folks...would you let a convicted child molester babysit your children? The molester has, after all, paid his debt.
The video doesn't tell me much. They were obviously trying to hustle him out of there and had some yahoo trying to interfere with that.

They should have fried him.
Ben Roethlisberger raped a girl in a bar bathroom and never went to jail. No one seems to care.

Vick lost millions of dollars and served time in Federal prison, and can't walk the street without some ass making a big deal about it.

There's a double standard in there somewhere. Not sure if it's race, that we care about dogs more than women, or both.

If the punishment wasn't enough then change the laws for sentencing. Has he committed any further crimes after being released? I don't know of any. If you treat someone like a criminal the rest of their life that is exactly what you make them.

If you have proof he is still involved in dog fighting then report him to the authorities. Otherwise, move on already.

He has paid his debt to society. You don't have to sit down and have a beer with the guy but at some point you have to move on.

I choose who babysits my kids. I would not let Micheal Vick dog sit my two dogs. You argument is weak and invalid.

OP, couldn't see the video at work it's blocked.

x2 on this. When the reward for Lorenzen Wrights killer was only $3k more than a dog named Kapone... something is wrong in this city.

For a dog? I like dogs but at the end of the day it's just a dog. It is NOT a human being. We don't fry someone for animal cruelty. I'm not justifying what Vick did but any sane person would not institute the death penalty for a dog.

The girl got paid off and never came forward to press charges. The dogs couldn't.

Exactly. You never hear that when someone has to go to court for a second offense the judge says, "We won't bring up your first conviction because you already paid your debt to society."

When/if Vick has a second trial we can address that hypothetical.

Double standard, possibly. Racial - nah - not when it comes to sports.
