I have to say that I can't be upset about not making the top 25. When you lose to a 3-9 CMU & a 2-10 Kansas team you really don't deserve it.

That being said we had a great season and #26 is not bad.
Exactly. We've got to start beating the teams ahead of us in the polls on the field before we start beating them in the polls.
The AP/USA Today voting this year was an absolute joke. How Clemson is in the top 25 of either poll in that weak conference they play in and with the drubbing they took from a slightly better than average WVA team in their bowl is a disgrace.
How does Ok St finish 3rd when they won their game and LSU losses by 21?

If NIU doubles the score on ASU instead of winning 38-20, I believe that increases the number of top 25 votes.

Make the 2 FGs and defend that absurb TD catch and we win 44-13.

BYU is #25 in USA poll with wins over Idaho, Idaho St, NM St, Hawaii, SJ St. Beat UT ST by 3 on a fluke last play of the game pass completion and beat SEC last place MS. Barely beat Tulsa(8-4) (24-21) in bowl game. It seems to be all about name recognition and not how well you play.

So you think we would beat Clemson?

It certainly does . By the way...when MD says this same thing people just shred the guy. So it's good he's not the only one who thinks this. ;-)

Exactly, NIU should have gone 13-1 this season. Only losing to Wisconsin was allowable.

Which should get NIU several more votes, unfortunately you have to bury your bowl opponent to get the vote totals needed for a top 25 ranking.

Clemson probably not (but given the ACC's poor bowl record this year, it's possible) but BYU yes. They beat the SEC's cellar dwellar (MS) by 1 pt, beat non bowl qualifying UCF at home by 7, beat UT St on a fluke td completion on the last play of the game (ball bounced off intended receivers hands into another BYU receivers hands), beat P12 bottom feeder Oregon St by 10, lost to Utah by 44 and beat an 8-4 Tulsa by 3. Not impressive for #25. NIU beat a bowl winning Toledo on the road and beat bowl winning Ohio in a neutral site game.
BYU has more name recognition than us. That's why they got in. We beat two 10-win teams and one 9-win team. Something BYU, Houston, and USM cannot say they accomplished.
