Highly sought-after 3 star LB Jaylen Coleman (Pittsburgh, PA) confirmed to TheRocketNation that he committed to Toledo about an hour ago. He has offers from Illinois (Beckman offered him immediately and was recruiting him hard), West Virginia, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Temple and others. He also started to get recruited by Urban Meyer and Ohio State a couple of weeks ago, but did not have an offer from them. This is a huge commitment for Campbell and his staff!
Wow...hope he stays true to his commitment
Its basketball season but that's still exciting news.

Huge get by the Rockets. Congratulations to Coach Campbell and the staff.
That's a good get for you guys....
Per scout.com we have 8 three star recruits. I think Temple is next at 5. For some reason, Temple's class is rated higher but that is probably because they have more total recruits. In reality, Campbell could have the best recruiting class in the MAC in his first year as head coach. I have to believe there are at least 2 more spots available in the class. Also, we could gray shirt a couple guys like we have the last couple of seasons.
LB!!!!

More of those.

I think he'll be very happy here. Lot's of play time. Great opportunities. Not far from home.
Espn.com has Meyers & Coleman as 2 our highest rated recruits. Illinois has only 1 player rated higher than these two.

He was also offered by Prairie View A&M.

Great job by Coach Campbell and staff!
The ESPN article refers to UT as the Golden Rockets.03-lmfao
Awesome! Was looking at his recruiting info last night and had a feeling. Now if we can pull in one more top RB, DB and either OL or DL!
How about a 6-2, 240 MLB with 4.5 speed
Love getting kids out of Western PA!!! Way to go Coach Campbell and staff!!!

That is probably because of that special that they did on the Welliston Golden Rockets, who use one of UT's logos. They were one of the schools featured on that ESPN show, where they came in and completely renovated their facilities

Listed as slightly under 6 foot at one web site.

Also suspended from his previous HS team. I think he's been at 3 schools. Hope it works out for this kid.

Jaylen Coleman, projected to be one of the top linebackers in the WPIAL this season, has been kicked off Gateway High School's football team.

Gateway coach Terry Smith said Coleman was removed from the team "for violation of team rules." Smith would not elaborate, but said the decision was made Monday morning, when high school teams around the state had their first official practice.

When asked if there was a chance Coleman could return to the team at some point this season, Smith simply said, "No."

Moved from Peabody HS to Monroeville to go to Gateway HS, probably to get a better shot at college. Didn't work out, so ended up at University Prep and led them to a City League title in their first year of football. Rated the #2 LB in Pa. Coach Beckman recently recruiting Jaylen very hard. Obviously there was no issue there. I do hope the new staff maintains and enforces the high academic and citizenship expectations for the team.

I can think of another Rocket who was suspended from their HS team whos done OK in the citizenship area and has shown some flashes of ability at times as well. If you consider multiple All- American status as flashes of ability.
should really hold our collective breathe until after his official visit to Prarie View A&M
