Hopefully he can take advantage of the opportunity! Congrats Mardy.
Hopefully being on a team full of former UC players will be helfpul for him.
Ha! Wow, what a coincidence. Literally one minute ago I was looking up Mardy on wikipedia to see what had happened with him. Glad to see he's getting another chance!
Welcome to Philly, Mardy! Glad to have you!

can't imagine any bearcat ever having success for the eagles, but good luck i guess...

[sarcasm off]
I wish him the best, but I won't be holding my breath.

Thanks, BJ. Never went anywhere, just haven't posted. The news about Gruehls seemed to change that.

Mardy has a decent shot of making it here in some capacity. With Steve Smith most likely gone (one can hope) and DeShaun's future uncertain, (don't care either way) there will be opportunity.
I wish I listened to Reid a few months ago when he talked about the UC/Eagles connection, but you can only take so much of Reid's coughing and throat clearing before you tune him out.
Rumor has it they are signing Gilyard as pretty much just a kickoff and punt return guy and maybe as an emergency WR, but he is expected to mainly be a return guy. The Eagles return game was horrible this season and they want to alleviate that and struck early to get the guy they wanted.
I can only speculate that the cash he got to sign at St Louis was
a potion that left him unable to get in football shape. His two or three
subsequent signings and releases were confirmation, IMO.
He needs to go to Eagles is peak shape, fighting to have a career.

It wasn't so much the cash he all of a sudden had as much as the work ethic (or lack of work ethic) he had at UC and took with him to the NFL.

While peak shape would be good, he needs to go in with a completely different outlook on the amount of effort he needs to put into his job.

He struggled with injuries early on and the Rams were trying to get him to learn multiple WR positions to make him a flexible option. But injuries caused him to miss so much time he could never get caught up, especially trying to learn multiple WR positions. Add in all the coaching changes that took place in St. Louis and he could just never get comfortable with the offense (Or stay healthy).

He definitely needs to be healthy and come in ready to compete next season as he could be running out of chances.
whatever role I need to play I'm willing to do ya kno I'm jus grateful the good lord gave me football back
