I haven't seen anything else said about this yet, but did others at the game see Rontavious Atkins going after a few other Bronco players after we gave up a touchdown in the second half of the game? Was anything said about it on TV?

It was very reminiscent of the Wiggins on field incident a year ago, but it happened as players were walking toward the sideline. Atkins was going nuts (right in front of where I was sitting), and trying to get at other players on the defensive unit. He could not be calmed until coaches finally reminded him that he was on the kick return team, and pushed him out onto the field. I was embarrassed.

My guess is that someone blamed Atkins for the touchdown, and he disagreed with the assessment.

Anyone with any info on this?

The TD by Purdue right before the sideline incident did not look very good in terms of Atkins effort IMO.

The Purdue player was running down the sideline, Atkins took a poor engle, the guy cut back towards the middle of the field around the 12 yard line and basically walked in the endzone. Atkins was the only player who had a shot at tackling him. During real time, it looked like Atkins basically gave up on the play once the Purdue player made his cut. The replay didn't look much better. You can check it out on youtube highlights from the bowl game.

I'm guessing, and it's only a guess, there were words exchanged on the sideline right after the play...which set off the incident. They showed a partial clip of it after the kickoff, but the film rolled after the words were exchanged. It only showed someone escorting Atkins away from all of it and then being rushed onto the field for the kick return.

This type of stuff seems to happen too often.

Yep, I mentioned something about this in another thread. I was in Row 8 and saw it unfold. Jordan White was steamed and yelled something at a few of the guys as he walked by. Apparently Atkins was irked by the comment and started going after White and had to be calmed down by other players. Fortunately, no contact was made and cooler heads prevailed, but it was unsettling and it had the potential to be an ugly scene.

I think you are correct. My son said, "he is trying to punch Jordan White", and I thought my son was mistaken, as no-one would ever do that. It was very ugly; I know that.

I was also in Row 8, at around the 21 or 22 yard line, on that same end of the field. Maybe we were neighbors. I always wish I could somehow identify Stampede members at games, so I could say hello.

You are correct sir. Rontavious is a good player, with tremendous upside. I was far more critical of his actions after the play than what mistakes he may have made during the play.

I have a sneaky suspicion that THOMASJM has more "insight" than what he may like the rest of us to know. Just a hunch.

Just to be clear, I definately wasn't blaming Atkins, or anyone else for that matter. I offered up my opinion of why the sideline incident started.
I was down there close to the action when that happened, White got on them for the coverage, he wasn't the only one mad, just the one who acted out, it wasn't pretty.

Bummed me out, but then there have been many team sports I've played when guys didn't love each other. I was glad that they seemed to get past that and play hard, they never quit.

I HOPE EVERYONE LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND YOU CANT POINT FINGERS WHEN YOU MAKE MISTAKES TOO. I NOTICED WHEN ATKINS MADE A MISTAKE, WHITE CAME UP TO THEM AND THAT WHAT CAUSED EVERYTHING. PEOPLE ONLY SEE WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END AND NEVER AT THE BEGINNING. I WAS THERE TO SEE IT ALL
