This guy had offers from BCS programs and we rescinded the scholly? That makes no sense.

We may be short on O-line, but why give a scholly just to fill a hole with someone who might not fit your offense. It's going to take a couple of years to get back to full numbers, but still I wouldn't want to fill a number with just anyone. I think that's what the previous staff was doing.

How much do offensive linemen really "fit" an offense anyway? It would be different if we were running on option and needed OLs that were about the size of modern-day LBs. Anyway, it seems strange to let go a guy that has some level of talent (based on reviews and offers).

In this style of offense (IMO), you don't need big hulking linemen, say the type for a ground and pound type of offense. You need quicker guys that can play the hurry up and are more mobile. The ball will be out quicker on slants, screens, etc. You won't need guys to hold blocks for very long. The QB will be in shotgun mostly.

Coaching staff must have their reasons especially since we're sitting at only 50 scholarship players and they have limited time for recruiting. I don't know anything about the recruit - something must not fit between our staff and the recruit.

considering OL was out weakest spot this season, and they couldn't outrun a turtle, I think having them "fit" is important
