1) Syracuse is showing us why they are #1 with that late 1st half run.

2) There are alot of vocal Syracuse fans in the RBC Center tonight, highlighting a potential positive side-effect of Syracuse's inclusion in the ACC -- the "snowbird effect" that has progressed in Raleigh for the last 10+ years, that continues to validate the Carolina Hurricanes' success as a small-market NHL franchise.

An old friend of mine who lives in Cary said that the town name stands for "Concentrated Area of Relocated Yankees"

Accurate.
LOL, were going to feel right at home playing in most Acc arenas. I'm getting to the point where I just cant wait.
Just got back from the game.

By far
the loudest visiting crowd I've seen in 12 seasons at the RBC Center, and that's including Carolina/Duke/Wake games.

I guess I was expecting Cuse to be more like BC, bringing tens of fans rather than hundreds. I was very much wrong.

In the Big East, most of the ADs either come up with strategies to keep us out of their arenas in such large numbers or to ensure we get in in order to make $$$ - particularly the larger pro type arenas such as MSG, Verizon, WellsFargo, Dunkin, the Rock, etc.

So far, of the larger BE venues, only the Bradley Center and Freedom Hall/YUM Center appear to be immune to a significant Orange presence.

Cheers,
Neil
So apparently we have to add the State of NC as home games for Cuse. LOL

I heard probably 5-6k Cuse fans there most were in the upper deck
Good to see. Looks like our move to the ACC isn't all doom and gloom! #CannotWait
From the TV audio, it sounded alot like the Hurricanes' recent home game against the Penguins two weeks ago. For that one, I was there as a band booster volunteer, and if it wasn't for the siren, it was almost difficult to tell who scored a goal.

It will be great to see 'Cuse in the league and hopefully light up Carolina in the same manner the Orange lit up NC State.

The C is actually for containment.
Yeah, Cary is truly the containment area for relocated yankees...

After the Canes eliminated the Sabres from the playoffs in 2006, we put a message up on the jumbotron along the lines of "Traffic Alert: All roads leading to Cary are packed with disappointed Sabres fans"...
NC State hasn't been good since the Jimmy V days. We have been particularly bad the last 5 years. Even with attrition and transfers Gottfried has the team playing much better than last year. He has a great recruiting class coming in. The number of available tickets will be decreasing very quickly.

There are a few UNC/Duke fans that buy season tickets just for a few games. I'm sure SU has a few of those type fans in the area too.

If your coach is the same guy who coached Texas A&M, he is a good coach. He guided that team to the Ncaa's a couple of years ago and knocked off the heavily favored Orange in the Sweet 16 game, I believe. He'll turn it around.

No, that guy is currently coaching at Maryland.

Gottfried used to coach at Alabama.

OK, well he also knocked out a heavily favorite SU from the ncaa Tourney about 3 or 4 years ago, lol. He's a good coach.
It was obvious that the talent level for Syracuse was much greater. There was quality and quantity. State played well I thought given that difference. They just couldn't handle the runs the Orangemen were able to put together. The Wolfpack are still trying to develop that mentality that they can and should finish a game when they play well. But if they can turn that corner they should be at a level that they can compete with the top teams in the conference and hopefully get their share of wins. I don't think they will play a deeper or better team this year.

Syracuse is tops in Big East basketball for bringing the most fans to opposing arenas. I expect that fan support to continue with the move to the ACC. I think BC, Maryland, GT, FSU and Miami will certainly get a large number of Syracuse fans in their arenas when the Orange come to town. Hopefully these schools will not stoop to some of the tactics by the Big East ADs to keep Syracuse fans out of their arenas.
I bet Su could sell clemson out, good thing no one will notice tho. 04-cheers
The SU fans at the State game were locals (relocated to the area from Upstate NY) not upstate New Yorkers traveling to Raleigh for the game.
