Quote:"I am really proud of the guys who have earned these individual honors; they are all very deserving," said NIU Head Coach Dave Doeren. "They are great representatives of the NIU football program on the field and in the classroom. The body of work they have speaks for itself. To have three players named All-Americans from our offense says a lot about the coaching staff and what our offense was able to do this year in addition to their abilities as players."

Kind of strange that he gives the coaching staff credit. They were very good players before this coaching staff took over.

But they weren't All-Americans. Give the coaches their due, as well. It is possible to f*^k up something that seems impossible to f*^k up.

I like DD, but they would have been All-Americans if HWSNBN was still here. I just don't like that he put the coaches first. I have seen a statement like that before from him when talking about the success of the team.

He didn't. He pointed out that the players are fine representatives of NIU on and off the field. Then he said their body of work speaks for itself. That means everything they have done for all the years they've been here.

I think he more explicitly commended the coaching staff, but he definitely talked about players first.

He's making sure the football organization is recognized.

Plus there's a little dimension of always having to sell the program, which means selling the quality of the coaching. So saying that the staff had a hand in this honor shines a little light on that.

2 for 1 here

The Tribune article is also incorrect. It should look up its NIU football history. Per the Trib"Wedige is the first Huskie to earn first- or second-team All-America honors since running back Michael Turner in 2003."

Garrett Wolfe was a First-Team Playboy All-American

Wolfe was also Named Second-Team All-America and No. 12 in Heisman Trophy projections by NationalChamps.com.

Good job Trib!
Also congrats to Chandler Harnish, Scott Wedige and Trevor Olson.
