If ECU is added....I'm assuming there addition is going to coincide with the 12 game football season...I think the 12 game season is supposed to start in 2006...If ECU is going to be with us next yr...shouldn't some kind of anouncment be coming out this summer? Or are we looking at ECU (if all this is true) kicking of in 2007?

They'd need that time to find a league for the rest of their sports; I wouldn't think the A-10 would be any cinch, so they'll have to talk to, well, I don't know those eastern small leagues - but one of them.

They or marshall are about the only team you'd get out of c-usa to take a football only membership, though. The numbers don't add up, otherwise.
A-10 already has 14 with the arrival of Charlotte and Saint Louis.
I don't see the A-10 as a feasble possibility.

If East Carolina had to play as an independent in men's and women's basketball for a couple of years, could the Big East accomodate ECU's minor sports?

Easier said than done - there aren't many indys around. Who are you gonna schedule from Jan-mid March?

They could probably go indy in the minor sports easier than in basketball. A lot of minor sports don't play much in conference either - you can always find a track meet or golf tourney to hook into most weekends.
I would guess it all follows the Temple/MAC timetable....I would bet on 2007 the way things are right now.
ECU can get into the A10, especially because the MAC is sticking to their guns that Temple join for all sports. That opens up the spot necessary.
I still think the A10 is the most logical way for all of this to play out...yes it will be at 15 but only for a few yrs.....the guys on the other thread were correct when they said the A10/BE have a very good relationship and have done this before...also...its seems likley to me that ECU will have support from UNCC, Richmond and GW for an A10 membership for the rest of its sports

One conference that won't work for ECU is the Sunbelt. A UNT fan said their bylaws won't permit a Div 1A playing FB member to have their FB team in another conference and the rest of the sports in the Sunbelt.

Talking about yourself again I see. I still can't figure out why a fan of a school that got rejected by another Non BCS league is on a Big East board.

Houston/Rice has nothing to do with your Mid Major schools.

Hopefully you haven't forgotten the numbers for those shrinks you spoke of earlier. You need to give one of them a call and try to cure yourself of this obsessive concern you have for the Big East. You really have enough to worry about with the future of the NCUSA.
