Copypasta please? I am boycotting Scout since they dumped us.
RAM10090: I have a friend on the Athletic Board at USA. He indicated the site has been narrowed down to the track area next to the Mitchell Center or the Intramural Field area in front of the Fieldhouse. The drawings are complete. The estimated cost will be 75 million dollars. It will seat between 35 - 45 thousand people. Discussions are ongoing with the city about moving the Senior Bowl and the Godaddy Bowl to the new facility. The city (along with Bowl people) would kick in some money. They are looking for a major donor (approx 20 million dollars) as a base. Construction would be complete in 3 years from now. He also indicated things are more concrete than being let out to the public.

Thanks - not sure if any of this is ground breaking news though. I think the newest bit of info (for me, at least) - is that the city would be kicking in some cash.
To me the newest thing was that it came from someone on the Athletic Board. And that they had plans. It will impossible to get any more info until an official announcement too.
"all I want for Christmas....."
Completion would make a lovely present for graduation from barn pharmacy school! Break ground this summer, you know you want to!
Not to be a Debbie Downer here but don't get too excited. 1) We've heard almost the exact same thing several times before and it's generally the same thing - it's gonna go at either the track or Hillsdale, always roughly the same size, always around the same cost, always looking for a major donor, there's usually some City/Senior Bowl/GoDaddy.com involvement and this isn't the first time that "drawings are complete". Not sure if that's a good sign or an old rumor that keeps getting kicked up. 2) I seriously doubt that drawings are "complete" if they haven't even decided on a site yet. You don't just design a building and plop it down on any old piece of property. There is ALOT of site specific design that has to be factored in especially with a structure this large and ESPECIALLY if they are going to cram it in over by the Mitchell Center. I know because I'm the guy that creates drawings like that. What they probably have is an approximate shape and some elevation drawings (what it looks like on the outside when you stand on the ground next to it) but I seriously doubt that they've got all of the structural and mechanical and utility and construction phasing and site work drawings complete. A complete set of plans for a project this size consists of a couple of hundred individual sheets.
The reason why that sounded so familiar is because RAM10090 posted it on the Scout board 2 months ago. Somebody hit that thread today asking whatever came out of it, which thus far is nothing. Also, RAM10090 has 13 posts to his credit. Trust me on this, we will have an on-campus stadium one day but I'm not believing any of the rumors until I hear it directly from the University or from one of the old timers on this board who I know are well connected enough to know what they are talking about. These are guys who don't "open their mouths" about matters until they know for sure that the info is good and they have always had good info whenever it's been relayed to me. We've got some guys on here who regularly post who literally have Joey on their speed dial, I've personally seen it, so if they aren't hearing any rumblings from their connections, chances are there is nothing to hear just yet.

Crap, sorry for posting old stuff folks. Was wondering why it was so kinda low key. My fault, should read more closely next time.
I still don't like the idea of playing post season games at on-campus stadiums. If they were to move the Senior and GoDaddy.com bowls on campus they might as well bulldoze Ladd. I would perfer to see Ladd get some more updates over the next couple of years and keep those games there, as well as bring in some out of market games.

No worries at all, preciate your enthusiasm!

I use the paid version on my iphone. It's good enough for what I need it for.

For our situation, I would love it. Great exposure, more visitors to campus = more money for the school, increased sponsorships, etc.

I don't think Ladd should get any more of the city's money. Why continue to renovate a stadium in a terrible part of town (once we're gone)?
Ladd will continue to get used for HS games long after we leave. None of the in-town high schools have their own stadium.
My thing about the updating is that if we have to play there 3 more years, which by all account we will be, there needs to be some updating. Including jumbo tron, sound system and locker rooms.

Won't happen - they know that we are pursuing plans for an OCS.

Yeah, I feel the same about the bowl games. I believe the only one that's played on campus is on the smurf turf.

I'm not sure I see the drawback to playing the Senior Bowl and/or GoDaddy on campus. The fact that no one else does it other than Boise doesn't seem like bad company to me. I would argue that no one else plays a bowl in a relic stadium like ours except the games in Birmingham and, dare I say it, the Blue-Gray in Montgomery. (Is that thing still around?) I would love the on-campus exposure for recruiting. And I would prefer to have a national audience see the USA campus and west Mobile over the not-so-scenic Ladd vicinity.
