77 - 64 which isn't exactly a fluke.

UofM was 9 - 1 until yesterday with a sole loss to nationally ranked Maryland.

EMU appears to have five starters who can play including James who can score big time.

With UT losing its star, is EMU the new MAC West favorite? 03-cloud9

Not so fast. CMU women just beat 12th ranked Purdue 75-62 yesterday!
BTW, is CMU suffering from playing a very, very difficult OOC schedule?
The West is VERY good this year. UT is obviously reeling from losing Shafir but the cupboard wasn't exactly bare behind her. Inma Z is proving to be a VERY hardnosed freshman and Andola Dorch will be one of the league's premiere PGs this year. The Rockets won't win any shootouts but with their D there won't BE any shootouts. Still I would say EMU has the edge right now.

I'm surprised by EMU.

Everyone knows that when James is on her game she can CONTROL a game.

I forgot how many points James had in the 1st 10 minutes yesterday but I believe it was say 15+.

EDIT: It was 19!!!!!

She put UofM in a hole they never got out of.

What I kind amazing is the balance among the other four starters.

This team appears to be a star plus four other players who perform their roles very well, including some surprises like Fouty and Watkins. (I believe Watkins scoring is up big over last season).

Both Watkins and Fouty averaged in the range of 1.5 - 2 ppg last year. Both are around 9 ppg this season.

I thought your PG from last year was a major key - she was tough and never backed down from anyone plus, she was strong and fairly athletic. But EMU seems to have not missed a beat without her.
Correct. Thomas took over the point from Cassie Shrock.

I'm surprised too.

Gilbert was able to reload.

Here is a You Tube.

#11 is the PG, Thomas.

#33 is a bull in the china shop, Fouty. She does the tough work inside.

Hard to say, I don't really follow WBB all that much. Besides Purdue they also play NW, Pitt, Miss, Bradley. Much tougher than our MBB for sure.
CMU women just defeated Ole Miss in Oxford 78-75 in OT. Nice way to follow up a defeat of Purdue!
came back from double digits in last 6 minutes to win in ot

Excellent.

CMU apparently has some weapons. CMU/EMU should be fun!

BTW, in addition to beating UofM by double digits, EMU lost to MSU in OT I'm guessing maybe 10 days ago.

The ladies are surprising me thus far, I thought they were a year away. They have 2 SRs on the roster, only 1 of which plays. Two thirds are FR/SO. Sue Guevara is my favorite coach at CMU.
