71-60 at Memphis
Memphis pulled it close, but still lost.

Initiate Memphis forum meltdown.
Wow. Murray State has beaten UAB, Memphis, and Southern Miss. Can we say, DOWN YEAR?
Just a thought here, but maybe it is an up year for Murray State.
To be fair, it doesn't look all that different from this place after a loss. This statement is kind of a head-scratcher though:

Quote:...Suspends players for lousy reasons, because this is a high academic school and our players cant do anything wrong. We have to be the best by Jewish standards.
Murray State is legit. I will be pulling for Memphis in their next couple of games. Hopefully they can pull out a win against Louisville and Georgetown and then come to Bartow and have a let down.
Maybe our competition hasn't been as bad as we expected, except UT-Martin with a 1-9 record, of course. These are against D-I opponents: Creighton is 7-1, Murray State is undefeated as previously mentioned, Wichita State is 7-2, USA is 3-3 (not good, but at least it was on the road), and Kent State is 7-1.
Any team in the KY-IN region is recruiting in basketball territory and therefore is capable of getting good players from the surrounding territories. The top athletes in those states still have been known to forego football in their senior season in order to concentrate on basketball. The reverse is not unusual in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Texas.
I could handle losses to Creighton, Murray State, and even losing at South Alabama... and that was before Creighton moved up in the rankings or Murray State beat Memphis. The problem, for me, is losing at home to UT-Martin. That is something that should not happen at UAB.

We can still have a decent year. I think we're improving, and we still have a chance to do some things in conference.
Losing to UT Martin should NEVER happen to a UAB team. No way you can apologize for, rationalize, or sugar coat that loss. Abysmal.

Good win by Murray. I was hoping they'd win.
Disagree about South Alabama.....that was a bad loss. Period.

They are 5-3 and ranked 220th in the nation (Pomeroy).

Agreed. They are expected to go 8-8 in the Sun Belt.
Tennessee Martin has won three games - UAB and two non-D1 schools.

They lost to Central Arkansas, who is ranked 317 by Pomeroy.

I think it is safe to say that we did not lose to UT-Martin because of their basketball prowess. It was because our heads were up our butts and they didn't come up for air until it was too late.
