Excluding Houston, SMU, UCF, Boise,BYU, SDSU and the Academies. Just for fun I was trying to come up with the schools who the big east would look at now that they are expanding west and I came up with this opinion of who would have the best shot at getting into the conference.

1.Temple
2.Memphis
3.Villanova
4.UNLV
5.New Mexico
6.UAB
7.Tulane
8.Buffalo
9.UMASS
10.Toledo
11.Nevada
12.Tulsa
13.UTEP
14.Rice
15.Georgia State
16.UTSA
17.Charlotte
18.Delaware
19.Southern Miss
20.Old Dominion
21.ECU
22.App St
23.Insert any Ivy league school. Not kidding either. It would be a first for any BCS conference and would make a splash if Harvard, Yale, or Princeton joined for football only. These schools could be moved up to the top quickly if actual interest ever came from the BE
I think you have ECU ranked a little too high. Other than that, your list looks accurate.
Yeah ECU is ranked WAY too high. Southern Miss is ranked way too low.

I wish you were right
One school you don't have on your list but would be a perfect fit is Northern Illinois. Location works(right near Chicago), good football program, huge school. I'd probably put them about #10 on your list....

You seem to be trolling for specific responses. Either a "hey man, dont be so down on yourself, ECU has got to be next in line"... or "ECU sucks, BCS sucks" etc.

There is no point to this thread. I'll give you the response you are looking for though. You know you are well qualified, and are probably next in line. Having more on field success, getting ranked and such, will only help that. Be patient...
Southern Miss will be in a major conference soon too. We just hired two of Obama's chief financial advisers and they have assured us that they can massage the numbers so that in a year or two we will have a one million plus market.
The BE's wish list: Army, Navy, Air Force, BYU

After that...I'd say...Temple, Memphis, 'Nova, UNLV, New Mexico, ECU, etc...
If you need some basketball with the Football, Memphis and Temple.
For football and a fanbase, ECU and USM.

100% in agreement with everything KnightNasty said
Really? Nevada over ECU?

That kinda response is exactly what the OP wants...
San Diego St over ECU? exactly

So, you admit that you were trolling instead of starting a thread to have a genuine intellectual conversation about the topic?

If you don't like the OP's topic no one is forcing you to read it. So instead of derailing the thread (which is just as worse as trollin') say what you need to say and keep it movin'!!!

There is nothing to derail. This thread was not started to have a discussion. It was started to "make a point" or "take a jab" at the Big East or what not...

No I was backing up the list I came up with. You may think its crazy now that these schools are on there but i dont think anyone would be shocked if the big east picked any of them.
Hey, maybe they'll grab Fresno St. and SJSU to really lock down that huge California market. 04-cheers

How? I started it and asked for others opinions on who they thought would be candidates for the next expansion. IMO if a school is in a big city they have a an advantage over those in college towns and I think every school on that list is a legitimate candidate and probably in that order if I had to guess.
