Congrats Toledo.
Congrats Toledo. Temple's MAC Conspiracy Theorists meltdown in 3...2....
Me Likey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would Temple mind? They are better off getting a new bowl experience and NM is fantastic. Great deal for the fans that can make it. I think they and UT made out pretty well.
Congrats to the Rockets and let's keep up a high level of attendance for MAC teams in this bowl. Your about double the distance Temple fans were in 2009 but for an 8 hour drive I'd love to see Toledo get at least 10k fans there.
Nice bowl and good opponent!

It has nothing to do with the MAC. ESPN wanted us in NM and the Military Bowl wanted Air Force.
Air Force hasn't really beat anyone that was very good, but they only lost at Boise Stat 38-27. This could be a tough match-up. The good for Toledo is that they are better defensively against the run than they are against the pass.

And I'm selfish, this is a one hour drive to RFK Stadium for me. 03-wink

I would have to agree with your point, Temple gets ESPN good ratings for a western game and Toldeo is still close enought to DC to get a good crowd there. Plus I so think it's good in the long run for Temple to get in different bowls.
The way the Air Force-Toledo pairing was put together was by having the Mountain West trade the Independence Bowl with the Big XII so they could place AFA in Washington DC.

This allowed San Diego State to find placement in another non-MWC affilated game as an at-large in New Orleans.

Iowa State is then off the board as an at-large. With the Big Ten sending 2 to the BCS only Illinois is left for at-large placement among the AQs.

Both Air Force and Toledo should bring a ton of fans.

Hell, Brian alone makes up well over ten percent of that.
It's a great gig for Toledo.
A lot of D.C fans rooting for Air Force I bet. Will the president be present?

He will likely still be in Hawaii with me 04-rock
That’s a nice deal. DC is beautiful around the holidays. Those going in support of UT should stop for a drink at the “Toledo Lounge”, which is a cool little joint in Adams Morgan (a great area in N.W. DC to eat and drink) decorated with paraphernalia from/about Toledo, OH (like Mud Hens' stuff). They need some Rockets' stuff though. Someone going to the game from Ohio ought to make a donation.

I can take the subway. 03-cloud9 I might be PM you about UT tixs.

I just hope the weather cooperates.

The game will run from 4:30 - 8:00 and with the sun down by the end of the 1st quarter it could get pretty cold in RFK.

Little O/T but MAC has WMU/Purdue and UT/AFA on consecutive days.

Very nice. 03-cloud9

Yup. Good place. I've been there a few times. The owners (at that time) even knew that they had one piece from Lima.
