Hugh Freeze is the leading candidate for the Ole Miss head coaching job. If true, will that hurt State in their bowl game or will they pull a "Tuke"?
The bowl game is over a month away. Their players will have plenty of time to get over it. Don't really see it hurting them.
So I guess its a good thing that there are no additional rumors about our coach going to Kansas right?

Agreed. Freeze just got a huge promotion. They will be happy for him but as a group of players move on to the next chapter and prepare for NIU. It's the way of college football.
Yep, the way of college football. Dysfunctional.
The guy's name is Huge Freeze? Awesome!
He just pulled a Jerry Kill, I'm sure he'll take his whole staff with him before the bowl game.

this is the way every coach that gets a chance to move has to do it. Ole Miss is not going to wait for this guy to coach the bowl. Jerry Kill provided financial security for his family which for him and his health issues if high priority. Every one of us would do the same thing.

gotta put bread on the table!
The BIG difference between us last year and AK St this year, is that they won their conference championship.
Yeah, this would be considered a whoops!

In the intangible column, the checkmark has to go on Arkansas State's side. They might come into this game a little more hungry than NIU. Make no mistake, NIU's MACC victory was what this team was playing for from Day 1 of spring practice. Arkansas State may be a little more motivated coming into this, and that concerns me since we saw what a difference in motivation can mean in that Fresno State/NIU game last year.
Nothing concerns me about the game. We just won the MAC Championship. The month leading up to the game and the game itself should be a reward. Let the players have fun in practices and the game. If we win, great, if we lose, I don't care.

Maybe my feelings will be different a month from now, but that's how I feel right now.

And MD, NIU was a lot better than Fresno State was last year. Can you say the same for Arkansas State?

They don't have a conference championship game like us. We would have won the conference too last year if there was no title game played.
Gonna be alot of red and black canines in Ladd-Peebles.
The way the team does at this bowl means a lot to these players as it is the last game for the seniors, scouts will be there. Also, every university in the country that is or may soon be looking for a new head coach will be watching too. So, DD has to be aware of this and should bring the Huskies ready to play. GO HUSKIES!!!
Looks like we'll be following your trend last year in playing a bowl game without a staff. All but 4 coaches have announced they are leaving before the bowl game. Including both our offensive and defensive coordinator. We have one defensive coach left on staff...

Thankfully we've got a month to actually hire a new coach and try and find some help for the game itself... im not sure how you guys did it with essentially 2 weeks notice last year.

We had Harnish, Spann, and Coach Tuke. And a very good team. Don't think we would be as successful this year.
