Looks like Utah State is in. Only OOC win, Weber State

http://www.utahstateaggies.com/sports/m-...11aad.html
Must say, the opponent is much easier than last season's WAC representative.
Don't sleep on Utah State. They're a solid team and will give the MAC rep all they want.
Does anyone remember how they shoulda, coulda, woulda beat Auburn first game of the year? And they only lost to BYU by 3, and lost in 2OT to Colorado St.
Look at Utah State's results. That team is no slouch and came very close to several more wins, including AUBURN.

Given the new name of this bowl, I think everyone attending the game should get two free cans of chips. After consumption, the packages double as noise makers!

Who is the current front runner to go from the MAC? MAC #3 - Toledo? I would think Toledo would be a heavy favorite.
Utah State is tough.

They will be a formidable opponent and whichever MAC teams travels to Boise better be ready for a battle.

This is not an ideal matchup because the casual fan may not know how good USU is and a loss to them would look bad when it shouldn't.
I want no part of Chuckie Keeton and Turbin.

I want no part of that blue field. It makes my eyes bleed.
Yeah, I hate watching a game on that blue turf. But Utah State is a good match-up..outside of Nevada and Boise, probably one of the few schools that will bring a few thousand fans plus I think the locals support the game pretty good if the weather is decent.
I hope the mac wins its fair share of bowl games this year. I'll be rooting for all 5? Mac Bowlers!
The blue field isn't so bad. The red field is much worse.
The blue field was only tolerable for one game last season and even then it hurt my eyes.
hey guys, Utah State fan here.

Our only OOC win was not weber, as we also beat wyoming. The csu/auburn/byu games were all in our grasp (double-digit leads late in the 4th quarter) but we squandered them away because we didn't know how to win.

That said, I don't see a lot of big MAC wins either. I've watched every NIU game I could (Harnish is my fantasy qb, so NIU has become my "favorite team that I actually don't care about") and I know what they are capable of, but they still lost to kansas. Ohio beat marshall which is a lot more impressive than the average fan knows of, but were pretty unimpressive before this winning streak started. Toledo lost some close games that they should have won (and arguably DID win), so they can understand my aggie-pain, but again, no huge wins.

So I don't know what the "USU only beat weber" thing is supposed to prove, but if it is supposed to prove that the MAC is above playing USU in a bowl, I just don't think that is true.

USU has a great offense, a good run defense, and a bad pass defense. I would love to play NIU because I like watching their team so much (but I don't know if they are even a possibility for the tader bowl), and I would prefer to avoid Ohio on this hot streak. Toledo seems to have a good offense (from the 2-3 games i've seen of them), but their scores make me wonder if they (or any mac team, i guess) actually fields a defense.

Anyway, I will be traveling from Eugene, Oregon, to Boise, Idaho, to watch the bowl game against whatever team you send, and I am very very excited.

Utah State also beat Bowl Eligible Wyoming during OOC play 63-19. The Auburn, BYU, and Colorado state losses were all last minute collapses with a little bit of luck for the opposing teams. USU has definitely had it's ups and downs this season but we've won our last 4 games including a rare comeback win at Hawai'i (not an easy place to win...33-8 at home since 2006). As as Aggie fan, it's hard to say what will happen. This team has lost games they it should have won and won games that it should have lost. They will be playing for a purpose though and will be ready to go. I'm looking forward to the game and can't wait to see who the opponent is going to be.

Also, for those who've said that they don't want any part of Chuckie Keeton, he was injured right before halftime of the Hawai'i game and hasn't returned as of yet. The last 4 wins including the Hawai'i comeback have all been under backup QB Adam Kennedy.

oh provo, you basically just copied me. great minds come up with the same excuses for losing, i guess.
Thanks for visiting, guys. I think you'll find that a vast majority of the posters here respect Utah State and look forward to a very competitive match-up.

Well said. What people don't realize is that Utah State should've beaten Auburn and probably BYU as well. Utah State had a few games slip through their fingers. They'll be tough to beat especially on their side of the country.

yes, I came back to say I read and recognize the complimentary posts too. USU is a lot of fun to watch, and I am sure it will be a good game.

and

I would prefer to avoid Ohio on this hot streak.

Welcome Aggie Fan(s)!

Glad to hear you're a fan of Chandler and NIU.

No offense, but I'm not sorry to be avoiding USU, y'all are a tough squad.

It's interesting to hear your perception/evaluation of the three top teams (NIU, Ohio, Toledo) and the order in which you place them.

Let's make the Boise Bowl a great one this year! It was totally AWESOME last year.
