Fitrst, Tressel is likely to get slapped with a "Show Cause" penalty by NCAA which could keep him out of college coaching for some time.
Second, when he was at Youngstown State (15 years), Akron was perhaps their bitterest rival.
Also I don't know how his retirement "agreement" from OSU might be affected if he takes job at another state school.
I hear they also might be targeting Luke Fickell as well

Akron should hire Paul Winters, who has Wayne State in D-2 semis.
He's a former player, coached there on two different occasions as well as at Toledo and Wisconsin.
Wayne is a tough place to win at, he took over when it was at low ebb, and has done a miraculous job in turning Warriors around.
