Anybody going down there Sunday afternoon ? Hasnt been much buzz about the game. For anybody who cant make it, I do believe it will be on ESPNU starting at 12. Obviously it's a game that we will have a tough time competing against, but if we stick around long enough and get off to a nice start, you never know whats going to happen. Hopefully for all of you who are on the edge about going get down there and check out the game...it should be a great atmosphere.
I'll be there I hope there is good size crowd 5-6,000 would be great! I bringing along a book to read while I wait for the traffic to thin out.
I am also getting there earlier 10 to 10:30 or so to get a good parking space.
If you're worrying about parking and traffic, just remember that 5,000-8,000 (Convo capacity is 8,800 I believe) is the kind of crowd we've had at home football games for the past several years.
Guess the crowd?

I'll predict the lower bowl is full and the upper half full.

How about over/under on the game?

My guess: 6,500.

The full lower bowl would look great on the tube.

been to many home games this year? 5,000 tops. I am handicapped I try and park near the south enterance and this is the Convo not Ryneason most people will be trying to park in the Convo lots. It will fillup fast and even if there is handicapped parking available they will not let you in if the non-handicapped parking is full. Get there early or you will be parking far away.

5-6,000 is my guess with hopes of setting a new attendance record 8,000. We have lost around 100 seats in the lower section do to the new seats and spacing of those seats, 8,760 before for basketball now around 8,650. Only 8 bad seats in the whole place.
My question:

If Dennis isn't there who is going to look for recruits?

I believe recruits can visit if they want, but that is the extent of it.

I assume the staff can leave tickets for possible recruits.
Steve, if recruits are there they will sit near or around the EMU bench. Stroll down there after the game, they might be hanging around the EMU tunnell entrance to the EMU lockeroom.

Should be some, what other home game would you invite them to?

You are the recruiting guru, keep your eyes and ears open. Still, Barden, others?????

Dennis,, I was counting on you...
I guess 4K+.

Crowd was very late arriving because of "problems" with will call - apparently lot of tis sold that way.

Also the ticket counters aren't really adequate for a large crowd.

The game atmosphere was very good. Students were very good as was the pep game..
The crowd seemed much larger than the 3,700 listed in the boxscore. Good atmosphere. Here's the problem, the team is really bad. The zone press effectively uglies up the game. However, this year's Eastern team cannot score at all. No shooters, no effective post players, too many turnovers. I hate to say it, but the most we can expect in the MAC is 1 or 2 wins. Where was Derek Thompson, is he injured?

Watching the game from my DVR right now after being there. The announcers said Thompson was out with an injury. Didn't elaborate much more.

Also, they had mentioned that one of our transfers will be eligible soon. Does anyone know who that would be?

The only one who applied was Riley! That would be HUGE!

I was told Riley will be playing the first of the year.
I agree, the crowd did look a lot bigger than the announced numbers, but I still wish there were more butts in the seats.

Here is what I noticed from a basketball outsiders point of view....

Matt Balkema is not Division 1 basketball material, he's the first to get winded, hes slow, and has absolutely zero ups. Along with him, Janton isnt there either. He is better than balkema, but the awarness just isnt there with him...

We cannot shoot the ball, we often relied heavily on hurried shots or waited until the possesion was nearly over to throw up an ill advised look.

JR Sims is somebody that can contribute, I love his mid range game. Maybe too many ugly three point shots...but that was a team problem today.

A kid im going to dog on is Harper. He is a mediocre basketball player trapped inside a wannabe playmakers body. He does look to have a nice shot at times, but he looks to rush things and seems to like the FLASH over the FUNDAMENTALS. There is something there though, and hopefully he becomes a good bench player down the road.

Im tired of typing so im going to cut it short... All in all, it wasnt pretty. I was hoping for a little more excitment out of coach Murphy, he seems to be very passive at times. This team will NOT make it very far this year, but there is a lot to look forward too in the future.

They been having problems with those electronic things all year, football and now basketball fix them or get rid of them. It isn't the people.

As you can see, most of the upper bowl is empty. It appeared to me that the lower bowl was 75% percent full, perhaps a little more.

Lampley is not a D1 pg. His handle and decision making are not what one expects from a D1 point guard.

The offense was a disaster. They could not shoot worth a damn, the shot selection was awful, ran sets in poor manner, and they turned the ball at an absurd rate. They are almost totally devoid of talent.
