Everyone seems to flock to Hockeytown and Chelis, but we went to this place last year and it was great. I would highly suggest it and they have great lunch and happy hour specials. Its a couple more blocks away from Ford Field, but well worth the walk.

looks like a great place. think you should make it official
Cheli's had great food and was close enough that NIU fans stumbled in without knowing it was an official party. Then we were able to sing the fight song and chant NIU! They were great.

Way too expensive for my liking.

Cheli's was great last year, I say we go there again.
You guys should just go here..... Better than all the bars in downtown.

My god.....went from 10 people on here planning to go there, to what was easily a 100, maybe 200 NIU fans at Cheli's, singing the fight song, flying an NIU flag and the place is 2 blocks from the stadium. We even drove some Miami fans off! (although a few stayed)They were happy to have us and treated us well!!

And people want to make plans to go somewhere else?

Like the commercial on The Score "this is the biggest no brainer in the history of the world."

(or something like that)
Yea I'm doing Cheli's again. Great atmosphere!
Was at Cheli's last year. Hung the flag and hd a great time. Cheered all huskies and turned away all others! Would enjoy going there again and then celebrating after the game.
Cheli's. Nuff said.
I'll go wherever, but generally I like to know what others think if I'm stuck between two options, and Cheli's reviews SUCK.

Yeah I'm with you. Great place, good specials, and we had it half filled with Huskies without even trying. Was it really 2 blocks farther? Musta been short blocks - what we call avenues in chi town.

I am on board with this, I am looking for something different than the alumni pre-game event that my wife and I attended the last two games in Detroit. How is the walk from the T Pump to the stadium? By that I mean are there sidewalks all the way etc. We are fine with a walk of up to two miles or so but my wife is pretty saftey conscious and would not want to walk on the shoulder of a road etc. I could not tell from the bus ride that we took the last two occasions.

It's less than 1/2 mile or just over 3 long city blocks. If you're staying at the Marriott you can take the people mover to Grand Circus Park. Same goes for the other bars, actually.
What time do all you guys plan on showing up to the bars, regardless which ones? We just hammered beers at the game last year, but want to get in detroit as early as possible this year to party...

Game is 7 eastern, so I'd imagine getting there at least 2 hours before if not more.
