The only smart move right now is to form a new All Sports Conference with the best schools that are remaining. The Big East is a disasterous mess made up of schools with all sorts of different objectives. Adding to that mess by bringing in a few Western schools for Football Only makes absolutely zero sense and will only further destroy what is left of the monstrosity known as the Big East.

Presidents and Athletic Directors are paid alot of money. Why can't they just sit down and use a little common sense which would go along way to fixing this mess for everyone involved.

Here is the easy solution that just about everyone would love to see happen. A New ALL SPORTS Conference made up of the best schools that are remaining. We can argue as much as we want about whether or not these are the best schools but in the end this makes the most sense.

New All Sports Conference (14)

West Division
BYU
Boise State
UNLV
SDSU
New Mexico
Houston
SMU

East Division
Connecticut
Rutgers
Cincinnati
Louisville
Memphis
South Florida
Central Florida

Bowl Lineup
Champion: AQ BCS/Fiesta Bowl Tie-In
2nd Place: Champs Sports Bowl (vs. ACC-14)
3rd Place: Las Vegas Bowl (vs. PAC-12)
4th Place: Liberty Bowl (vs. SEC-14)
5th Place: Belk Bowl (vs. ACC-14)
6th Place: Independence Bowl (vs. SEC-14)
7th Place: New Era Pinstripe Bowl (vs. Big-12)
8th Place: San Diego Poinsettia Bowl (vs. PAC-12)
9th Place: BBVA Compass Bowl (vs. SEC-14)
10th Place: New Mexico Bowl (vs. PAC-12)

That is a big time Football Conference with a great East/West Football Championship made for TV. The Bowl Lineup makes us a legit player at the big boy table. TV would pay big money for this.

2011 Final Basketball RPI
#3 - SDSU
#5 - BYU
#14 - UCONN
#17 - Louisville
#25 - UNLV
#28 - Memphis
#36 - Cincy
#66 - New Mexico

That is a big time Top 3 RPI Basketball conference in the country and the Basketball Tournament is made for TV with Quarterfinal and Semifinal matchups that would put together some of the best East/West games in the country! TV would be all over this.

We are looking at a minimum $150 million dollar a year TV contract with this conference. We would be a Top 3 Basketball Conference in the country and in Football we could easily compete year in and year out against the Big-12, ACC and PAC-12 to be the 3rd or 4th best Football conference.

Why not do the right thing? Stop creating more messes and just abandon this Big East Monstrosity to form a new All Sports Conference with the best schools leftover in the land.
Yeah, good luck with that. Sanity is not part of the realignment equation.
I'd love it for UNLV to join...but it seems that the BE basketball schools aren't going anywhere and none of them want anything to do with any all-sports out west other than SMU and Houston. Personally...I'd love to UNLV to join, anyhow. I'd love to have a Vegas road trip mixed in some years!!
That conference would have the NCAA passing out violations; like they were candy.

An all sports conference like that would never work. You would lose too much money on travel.

Says the guy whose conference has teams in Miami and Boston.

Traveling 2-3thousand miles through multiple timezones is much different than 1thousand in the same timezone. 03-lmfao

Boston to Miami is 1,500 miles, and about a 2 hour flight time.

UConn to San Diego is 2,950 miles, and about a 4 and a half hour flight.

I guess you have TULANE in the big 12.

You guys would probably have gotten in over West Virginia. If your school cared about your athletics. Tulane needs an on-campus football stadium that seats 35k, and they need a new basketball arena. If you had those two things, then you probably would have been selected. You fit the XII's footprint, and are great academically. 04-cheers

35K wont work in the Big-12. Maybe could get by with 50-55.

What I mean was if they had a 35k seat stadium to begin with. Then the XII could invite them, and Tulane could then plan expansion to 45kish.

Having a large stadium in C-USA would lose money. Especially with limited fan support.

But you forget the time differential, dude. Folks traveling from UConn to San Diego will get off the plane and it will only be an hour and a half later on the clock. So technically, you could say the UConn players hit San Diego a half hour sooner than the BC players hit Miami... 05-stirthepot

That's why if this were to actually happen, the travel will be worse for the western teams, we lose time.

If UConn played at SDSU, lets say they board a plane around 5 PM EST, they would arrive in San Diego around 7 Pm PST. Time to get to the hotel, eat and rack out around 10 local time or 1 AM EST. Lets say they reconvene at 10 AM EST, it's only 7 AM out here. Plenty of time for team meetings, sight-seeing and a phucking nap before a 3 PM local kick-off. If SDSU played at UConn, it's the exact opposite.
Since we're making up conferences, I'm pretty good at that. Here's a conference...

Either way you have to adjust your internal clock, and the time to do that is before you get on the plane, if you want to play your best on game day...
