To Whom It May Concern. Good evening/morning. I'm a UAB athletics fan and I have a service to ask anyone here that has working knowledge of the history of the University of Charlotte. Some of you may recall that our respective schools used to compete in the same conference in basketball many years ago, at the time, you all were known as UNC-Charlotte. My understanding is that now you all are acknowledged as simply the University of Charlotte, assuming that somehow, the school has severed most of if not all ties with the UNC system. Again, I'm going off of assumptions, so please correct me if I'm wrong about anything I'm about to post here. If this is true, we here in Birmingham and nearby Huntsville , Alabama, are at critical odds with the University of alabama board of trustees in terms of fair and balanced representation and resources for our respective athletics programs, just recently, this board has scrapped the hockey team at the University in Huntsville, and after months, no , years of planning and gathering financial and widespread support for an on-campus football stadium for UAB, the board chose to remove the project from this months agenda approximately 72 hours prior to the actual board meeting without any kind of public discussion or debate prior to a vote on the project, many in the loop of this stadium endeavor were under the impression that it would be approved, pending this meeting. Even some of the board members came off as perplexed and confused by what happened with this and why and we've been given no profound answers as of yet. Their next meeting is scheduled for February 2 and 3 of 2012 in Birmingham. In the meantime, their actions against UABh has caused a serious uproar of fan anger and swelling support from far and wide in favor of the project, I'm not sure how far-reached this story may be to the citizens of Charlotte, but if your school did in fact, break away from the UNC system, is there anyone here that can fill me/us (the posters at Blazertalk.com) on what happened to inspire a movement away from said system and what intangibles took place to make the endeavor a successful one. We'd really appreciate anything that you can share with us. There are many other reasons other than the stadium obstruction controversy that have caused such an uproar and backlash in our area, and I'll be glad to go into some of the details with any of you later. Right now, I'd/we'd be honored to get some dialogue started on how The University of Charlotte, for lack of a better term, gained its' independence and how has it worked out for the school since?

On behalf of everyone at Blazer Nation, thank you again for the indulgence. Best of fortune to your beloved 49'ers in all things constructive.
