Awesome! Where did they play the game? (I wonder if it was at the Alamodome?)
Cool story Hansel
I know the Coog fans are going to be upset..... BUT even Kansas has 50K.

I know the stadium only seats 33K or so. But isn't Reliant stadium in the same city? Cant the school rent it out? Someone said it was the HOTTEST ticket in town.

Seat 60K, then I'll be the first one to say "THose Coogs deserve credit". But 32-33K sounds like pUNT to me.

We would've used the Astrodome, but it's unusable right now due to violating major structure codes. (That's pretty much what I told b0ndsj0ns a few days ago.) Seriously, the stadium can hold up to 60,000 plus for football.

Kansas is averaging about 42k in reported attendance this year, they still sell a lot of season tickets because people want better basketball tickets.

Their actual attendance is probably less than Houston's.

College football is supposed to be played on campus.

Beginning to end, it was an incredible day on the University of Houston campus yesterday. You're just being a nitpicker.
There would be no atmosphere at Reliant. That's why it's the Rob or nothing. Our games would be a step up from Tulane's. Plus, as we learned for years while playing at the Astrodome, people are less inclined to buy season tickets if there will always be extra individual tickets available. We don't have a fan base yet (and really, any time in the foreseeable future) that can fill 70,000 seats through thick and thin, so the best way to build toward that is to take it a step at a time.

Tell me about it. What was the number they said they had Friday night after upsetting Okie State? 52,000?! GEEZ! Pretty good for a team that's not even going to a bowl game.

AND they lost to McMurry! And McMurry lost to Mary Hardin-Baylor! It's all about comparative wins and losses, right Tallgrass?

I definitely agree, Cyclone fans are very passionate. They have also traveled very well to bowl games in years when they have made them. Their bowl against Minnesota a couple of years ago was probably 70% cyclone fans in the stands.

I lived in Ames near the end of the Dan McCarney era (04 & 05), attendance wasn't quite as good then despite teams with similar records. Jamie Pollard the ISU AD has done a great job of getting fans in the stands.

Yeah they beat Iowa and UConn OOC to finish 3-0 outside of Big 12 play. Shows just how deep the Big 12 is this year, with the exception of Kansas.

32K screams mid-major. Want to be with the big boys, gotta act like them..

I would think some Coog fans agree. But if you are content with 32K- then good for you. I won't rain on your lil parade.
Iowa State took 30,000 fans to a bowl in Arizona. I forget the year...since ISU so seldom is bowl elgible.

This is what I'm saying Houston can do. It shouldn't be viewed as criticism. Darn it- why not?

Hate to lose UCF and Houston...but that's life.

"Losing" SMU and gaining UNT is a plus for CUSA. UNT brings enthusiam and probably stronger fan interest and attendance and tv.

I look for TCU to start averaging crowds of 50,000+ next year and occasionally putting a game or two in Jerry's World and selling it out. Must be tough to be a Mustang fan and I think this is the reason for all the malaise around the SMU program.
