ANONYMOUS NO MORE; RAM HEADS AID VCU
[Image: practice-squad.jpg?max_width=800&amp...height=450]

You’ve probably never heard of the Ram Heads, VCU Women’s Basketball’s male practice squad. That’s because they operate only behind the closed doors of the practice gym. But recently, Scott Wyant dropped by practice to find out how this group of unknowns is making an impression on Marlene Stollings’ VCU program.

Thibault Named Assistant Coach with Washington Mystics
[Image: ThibaultMystics-031513.jpg?max_width=800...height=450]

RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Commonwealth University Assistant Women's Basketball Coach Eric Thibault has announced will be leaving the Rams to accept the same position with the WNBA's Washington Mystics.

Thibault, the son of Washington Head Coach Mike Thibault, played a vital role in VCU's transition to the Atlantic 10 Conference under first-year Head Coach Marlene Stollings in 2012-13. He helped the Rams qualify for the A-10 Tournament in their inaugural season in the league, while guiding the second-youngest team in the conference to double-digit victories.

"Eric has been an integral part of creating a championship culture and mindset for our program," said Stollings. "The opportunity to be an assistant coach in the WNBA at this point in his career is a tremendous opportunity. We are grateful for our time together and we wish him and the Washington Mystics all the best."

Thibault, who boasts a wealth of collegiate and professional experience, joined VCU last fall after spending the previous five seasons as an assistant for player development and scouting on his father's staff with the Connecticut Sun.

VCU Women’s Hoops 2013 Recruiting Class Ranked Among Nation’s Best
[Image: 2013RecruitingClassRanking.jpg?max_width...height=450]

RICHMOND, Va. – It was June 5, 2012 when Marlene Stollings (pictured) stood behind a podium inside VCU's Sports Medicine Building.

During her introductory press conference that Tuesday afternoon, she explained her vision for VCU Women's Basketball, and admitted that recruiting will be the "lifeblood" of her program.

Stollings' June arrival put her staff slightly behind on the recruiting trail, but that didn't seem to matter however, as just five months later she and her new staff had rapidly assembled a six-player recruiting class, which gained attention as one of the country's best.

Blue Star Basketball, a respected national women's basketball recruiting service, tabbed VCU's 2013 class as the 38th-best in the nation, tops among all Atlantic 10 Conference squads, and third-highest among non-BCS schools.

Women’s Basketball Lands Auburn Transfer Chadarryl Clay
[Image: ChadarrylClaySigning051513.jpg?max_width...height=450]

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball Head Coach Marlene Stollings continues to add to her impressive 2013 recruiting class with the addition of Auburn transfer guard Chadarryl Clay.

Stollings and her staff already made noise during the early signing period, boasting the top recruiting class in the Atlantic 10 and the 38th-best in the country. Clay, who was an ESPN HoopGurlz four-star recruit out of Georgia Preparatory School (Tenn.) in 2012, will only boost those rankings.

"Chadarryl is the epitome of a student-athlete," said Stollings. "She brings an outstanding academic background to our program and plans to enter the prestigious school of pharmacy. In addition, Chadarryl will bring strong on-court experience from her time in the highly regarded SEC. Her basketball IQ, ability to score in transition, read the floor and defend step for step will be invaluable in helping us reach our goals. We are thrilled to add Chadarryl to our Ram family."
