I was at Akron last yr for the NIU game. At halftime I ran into a Zip booster and he ripped into Ianello. Said Ianello pissed off the entire athletic dept down to the secretaries. Sounds like a guy who thinks he knows everything. This was his 4th game as HC and many Zip fans were ready to run him out.
I could see one guy following an old position coach, but 8? How does that happen without tampering? Their season isn't even over yet and we're already talking about where they're transferring? And so much for that ND degree followed up by post-grad at that Ivy League level Akron.

Ianello was the recruiting coordinator. He recruited all these guys out of high school. But beyond that, our offensive coordinator was ND's O-line coach, our QB coach was the QB coach at ND, and our DFO was ND's equipment manager.

If I were a player that was asked not to return to my team by a new coach, I would start looking up my old coaches who liked me better. And Akron has a lot of those.

Or maybe it was tampering and we finally have an excuse (a.k.a. a scandal) to fire Ianello without having to buy out his contract.
I understand where your coaches came from, but these kids are still students athletes at another NCAA school and in the middle of a season. They are not high school, prep school or JUCOs, so how does either side reach out without breaking some sort of rule on tampering? I could imagine once the season is actually over and they have their degrees they very well may leave, but this just doesnt sound right. And if it is true and I was Kelly I'd waste no time and dismiss them all ASAP.

Do they have their undergraduate degrees YET?

If this is their 4th academic year at ND (Three football seasons plus a redshirt year), then they should probably graduate in spring.

As such, isn't it a little early to be moving on????

[Unless, of course, they did summers, etc. and can graduate next month?]
Don't know about all of them, but Dayne Chryst might as well leave now. He lost his job to a true freshman last year, won it back, and has been awful since then. In my opinion, he won't see the NFL because they have seen his disastrous execution. Not only two turnovers on Hume within the five yard line, but one dropped snap that went for six the other way.
