Mean Green's Tony Mitchell #3

3. Tony Mitchell, F, North Texas
The former Missouri signee sat out last season after being ruled a partial qualifier by the NCAA. Expect him to dominate the Sun Belt from the opening game. He is a versatile prospect who can play multiple positions; essentially, he's an athletic matchup nightmare for anyone. He was rated a five-star prospect in high school, and finally has a chance to live up to his reputation.

Mitchell is no under-the-radar player. He's likely the most talented playerin the conference.
best player in sunbelt history... lottery pick in 2 yrs
Naw, Mitchell isn't very good. Remember that video of him gettin dunked on in an ALL-STAR game that some ULM fan posted. 03-lmfao
Mitchel will undoubtedly be a good player. UNT should get the most out of him this year, b/c due to his history I wonder if he will have trouble staying eligible for two seasons in a row. It may be a moot point, b/c he may go pro after this year. It will be a nice addition to the conference, and he will be really fun to watch.

However, he will likely not be the best player to play in the conference in the past ten years. Courtney Lee was just really really good.

Don't worry about his grades brohemoth. He is rocking around a 3.5 GPA.
Wow, unseat fisher. 5 nba championship Derek fisher? 15 years in the league?

I have no doubt he will be good, but remember every school here has a nba player or two and a few probably have a player in the range of fisher. This kid will have to make good life chooses for a long time to be the greatest sbc player ever.

Are we judging players by what happens in the Sun Belt, or what happens in the NBA. I don't claim to know how good Derek Fisher was in college...I assume he was pretty good though. Tony MItchell has done nothing yet, but I don't think any SBC school has ever had a #12 national recruit on their roster, and he didn't end up at NT because he was riding the bench at a Big 6 school. Rankings mean nothing though. Should be a fun season.

Terry Catledge averaged over 25 points and 11 rebounds a game in the 1985 at USA, before becoming a 1st round pick in the NBA. I'm sure Mitchell will be good but he has a long way to go to match the production of some of the elite players this conference has produced. Don't forget guys like Cornbread Maxwell, Chris Gatling and Dee Brown all played in the SBC at one point or another.

True, that's why I made sure to say that Tony MItchell has done nothing yet.
it's one of the reasons i didn't even respond to anewb4evah.

he's young and just doesn't know.

i remember watching gatling, and catledge, and dee brown, and otis smith....etc.

i'm sure mitchell is fine. the recruiting companies rarely miss on top 20 players.

but to say a guy is the BEST EVER when he has yet to play one minute in college is a bit presumptious.

but we're just a bunch of old guys that don't even talk about sports...what do we know???

Yeah but he's coached by Isaiah Thomas.

true but that kid IS a stud. it's amazing how good some of these 5* kids are. the fiu kid seems to have attitude but he has the god given tools.

that's why i believe mitchell will be good...i'm just not ready to crown him best ever in the belt yet.
Carlos Arroyo not a bad player either.

McCalleb (sp) from UNO could light up a joint.

I'm sure WKU has had a pretty decent player or two.

How 'bout some of the Belt players from other programs now gone from the SBC ?

Did Karl Malone play in the Belt ?

+1

I think tech was in the south land at that point? It was before my time.
3.5 GPA means nothing right now. He needs to get 24 hours passed over two semesters. I hope the kid can do it, but his history indicates otherwise. He has taken no finals or anything.

I'm sure he will be a very very good player. But as far as college basketball player goes, Bo McCalleb may be the best one I ever saw in the Belt.

He's been enrolled since January and grades won't be a problem.
I hope not. I'm rooting for the kid. Hopefully he plays 28 really great games a year.
