...has the Big East OFFICIALLY invited any teams?

If so, have any of these teams OFFICIALLY accepted?

If so, have these/when will these acceptance(s) be OFFICIALLY announced?

I tried sifting through the interwebs and threads here for the info, but there is so much conflicting information/speculation that I'm unsure as to whether the Big East has dissolved or is now a 16-team super-conference.

Thanks.
They have officially invited: Boise, Navy and Air Force football only, and SMU, Houston and UCF full membership.

I'm not sure if all six are contingent upon each other, but I've heard they won't announce anything until all six accept, so it might be an all or nothing thing, or at least that's the impression they want to give.

Last I heard was that AF was not swayed yet resulting in Navy not wanting to join without them. So Boise St was talking with San Diego St to see if they were interested in being their Western partner. Then the talk went to Memphis, Temple and ECU as the contingent for Navy if they do not join.
Missouri announcing its move to the SEC may precipitate the Big XII to soon add two more. Most of those Big East "wannabes" are CAREFULLY weighing their decisions to move or stay put. "Look before you leap" is good advice; at least until the Big XII makes a statement on whether they are going to stand pat. (Even then, what if they change their mind within the next few years.)

Among other reasons, makes me glad we're in the MAC. At least we haven't had to endure all of this turmoil.
The Big 12 says that (well, the OU AD says) that they are set for 2012...but I guess that doesn't mean that they are done inviting teams this day, week, month, year because they could always be 2013 starts. The wording seems much to carefully chosen not to imply further announcements for future seasons.
Seems like the Big East is all over the place, literally. First it's Air Force, then BYU, then San Diego State...then make a complete western based divisions. With all of this I have seen any definitive story where any new school has yet accepted.
Big East will add Hawaii and Alaska Anchorage and call the new conference the Big Far East.

The latest report I heard has Temple getting a definite invite, unfortunatley it will only be for our campus in Japan.....Hawaii neeeds a travel partner to play the universities in India and China that will be coming on board.

Makes sense to me. Rushing cost TCU a cool $5M if I understand correctly.

And the Big 12 would do well to look at BYU, Boise St, L'ville and Memphis.
Big East is trying to lock up BYU so Boise gives the "thumbs up". That would be a pretty good league actually.
