Because everyone apparently hates us on CUSABBS, I'll get this thread (hopefully) up and coming.

A quick visit to http://espn.go.com/college-sports/footba...class/2012 shows some decent skill seemingly lining up for us. It's way too early to tell, but there are a lot of 4 star recruits considering.

Keep in mind, we are more than set with Running back for right now. The only back graduating is Ronnie Weaver, meaning that we still have LT and Brynn in the lineup AND Storm Johnson (from Miami, 4 star RB out of high school [Kevin Smith was a 2 star fyi]) will be eligible to play. With the hands of Worton, and Reese showing promise, we have a good staple of receiving to last us for quite some time, leaving more than enough time to bring in some 4 star (or higher) talent there when we can get it.

What I PERSONALLY want to see is an improvement in the Offensive Line core. Whether we stick to a run heavy offense or a pass heavy offense, or both, we must have an impenetrable Oline. Not to say that our offensive woes have been all on their shoulders, but it is it's fair share. Additional problems I've seen have been indecision by Godfrey, poor repetitive play-calling by O'Leary, and the inability to get the running game established (due to poor blocks, or lack of running skill). Defense is fine for now, it could use some patching up and some influx of talent, but we can only get better from here out, with such a young (but talented) defense. Gotta start looking for a replacement for Josh Robinson though. Jonathan Davis is showing great promise.
I think our recruiting did take a bit of a hit this year, However, it will return in force with the AQ tag.

As far as people hating UCF on the CUSA boards just start posting on the BE boards. I won't post anything in CUSA anymore.

Ya i'm pretty much done there, except to stir the pot when some posters get a little too whiny. I'm not so sure our recruiting has suffered at all to be honest. Have you taken a look at them so far?
O-line is definitely a key area for us to boost our profile on.

We will be way deep in halfback for years to come. Plus, we have a pocket passer for the future. The offense has the keys to tear apart defenses, but our "seniority" in coaching is fudging up every opportunity to succeed this season.

Let's pray we can continue to bring in top-level players for the program and learn to manage our team better.
Everyone who reads this thread feel free to post your input, or if you have any inside information on recruits please share
Interesting... Looking at the "considering" section under ESPN recruiting... We have a 3 star kicker by the name of James Lincoln. UCF is the only team offering him. Could we finally have a decent field goal kicker?
It turns out that Alton "Pig" Howard, 4 star 5'9" receiver, and brother to Quincy McDuffie out of Edgewater, is choosing between the Tennessee Vols and UCF. He's not the tallest, but apparently he's impressed enough people. He could be quintessential in a sweeping triple option playbook, if he is as fast as his brother, and especially if he has the capability for Yards after Catch that seems to make up the bulk of his ranking.

Alton Howard
Atleast we have Storm Johnson coming on in 2012! Does anybody have any updates on him?

That freshy behind Cattoi is supposed to have a lot of promise. He is Florida High School's all-time leading scorer (or something of the like. Can't remember exact)
A few things

-Haven't been able to find anything on Storm Johnson recently, other than word that he has been smoking the scout defense day in and day out. If anyone has any connections or word, please post.

-Alton Howard may be indecisive on his commitment to the Vols. Apparently a lot of coaching drama leading to firings and transfers has been happening in Tennessee, and the resultant has gotten "Pig" unsure. Orlando Sentinel reports that he has opened up connections to UCF, UF, and WVU among others.

-Ted Roof, former Auburn DC and current UCF DC, is apparently hitting SEC recruiting country hard. While Roof's DC skills may be suspect, as a result of his up and down performance at Auburn, one thing remains constant with him: He is an excellent recruiter. This may be just what we need to ensure we have the best defense in the conference, both C-USA and the Big East.
Does anyone know what kind of recruiter roof is?
Dareen Owi, a 6'-3" wide reciever from Miami Norland commits to UCF.

My favorite comments were "our (high school) recievers coach stresses run blocking as much as pass catching" and "I had to perfect my blocking to help my team". These words are beautiful to hear coming from a skill player.
If you watched USM and Houston's recievers, they were awesome blockers down field and that is how they made the big plays.
Did not see any impressive blocking by the UCF recievers last year.

Welcome aboard Mr. Owi, the future is bright when you are a Knight !
New safety Jared Henry, a former South Carolina commit who switched to UCF last year, and also a three star safety, redshirted his freshman year and is apparently raring to go. Let's hope he is really good, because he has some holes to fill after Josh Robinson leaving for the draft.

-What are your opinions on the starters for the secondary, now the Robinson is gone?

Pace HS - Mike Campbell, a 6-foot-6, 252-pound who is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com commits Monday. TE played TE & OT

Pensacola Pine Forest offensive tackle Colby Watson (6-6, 320). Adams, who is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, has already committed to UCF

Pensacola Catholic defensive end Luke Adams (6-4, 250) official visit this Friday with the above 2, they are trying to convice him to come also.

Good, good. We need all the help we can get on o-line. It seems that o'leary is going classic o'leary, with all prospects filling a run blocking role. Hopefully the passing game is where he wants it, otherwise we're leaving a gaping vulnerability.

Welll.... We don't have to worry about that now.

O'Leary has been hinting at a quite a few good recruits coming our way, with him hiding them to keep other schools from getting interested in them. Let's hope his confidence is well-founded. I feel if he brings in two 4-star recruits (to appease the people that rely on "stars"), he'll have his bacon out of the fire for now.
UCF recruiting: UCF coach George O'Leary trying to keep commitment list quiet

Here's Iliana's article about O'Leary double secret list of up to ten silent commits. Hopefully he ends up being the last guy smiling at them...
This past weekend was a big weekend for UCF recruiting. We got a well rated safety, a 3/4 star OG (rivals / espn respectively) and it seems that O'Leary is doing well filling in the voids from last year. He is focusing on WR depth (with attention to height and hands), O-line skill, and (hopefully) D-Line pass rush.
