Couple of questions here. I know if the Huskies win out we are in the Championship game.
What happens if we lose against BG, or Ball State, or EM? Trying to see when I could be booking flights from Utah out to Detroit. I know just win out, but what games are a must win for NIU to get there?
They're all must wins. Lose any of the 3 games and you have to hope Toledo loses again. Lose to Ball State or EMU and you have to hope the team you lose to AND Toledo loses a game.

EDIT: Actually the EMU/Ball State thing might not be right because I'm not 100% sure on the 3 way tiebreaker rules.

We will know a better picture after the EMU/BSU game on Saturday but...
To go to the MACC for NIU...
#1 Win out

#2 Loses to BGSU but defeat BSU & EMU and need help with...
Toledo will also have to lose one game.

#3 Loses to BSU but wins against BGSU & EMU and need help with...
Toledo & BSU need to lose one game.

#4 Loses to EMU but wins against BGSU & BSU and need help with...
Toledo & EMU need to lose one game.

For me #4 is the scariest because if EMU defeats BSU than it will come down to our game. For EMU their hope sits with WMU defeating Toledo next Tuesday. If this happens then all EMU needs to do is win out.

Then again that is the type of thing that will get the game on EPSN2 @ 6pm.
Firstly, if we lose another game, Toledo also must lose another game. Right now we have the same record, but we hold the tiebreaker having beat them. EMU needs both us and Toledo to lose another game.

If Ball State wins out (beating us) they’d hold a tiebreaker over us, but they still have to play Toledo too.

Central is pretty much out of it. Western has to beat Toledo, Miami, and Akron to make it to the MACC, and also needs EMU and NIU to lose two more due to us holding the tiebreakers over them.

So if we lose to BGSU, we have to beat Ball State, and then root for them against Toledo. We can’t lose to Ball State at all because they’d have a tiebreaker over us. At that point the MAC West would be decided on Nov 25 between them and Toledo. EMU still has to play Ball State, Buffalo, Kent, and us. It’s very possible they lose all of the above.

Toledo has Western, Central, and Ball St left. Ball St has the best chance among them IMO.

Quote:#3 Loses to BSU but wins against BGSU & EMU and need help with...
Toledo & BSU need to lose one game.

Besides us, BSU only has EMU and Toledo left. Assuming Toledo is the only team who can beat BSU, then Western or Central would have to beat Toledo for us to get to the MACC. Here the scenario starts getting dire, we can't much afford to lose to BSU.

Toledo & EMU need to lose one game.

EMU will probably lose 1 more game, but we're relying on WMU, CMU, or BSU to beat Toledo here.

I think #3 is the worst for us. #2 and #4 are then equal and slightly less scarry. Let's hope for #1 04-rock
Win out is the only sure scenario right now. We will have to wait another week or two to determine the tiebreaker outcomes unless you want to spend all night looking into it.

As daunting as it is, can you imagine having this conversation with no internet (ok besides the fact that the conversation itself is on the internet)? You'd have to save newspapers, keep a personal MAC results log, or visit a large library periodicals section to get this info.
I have already planned my trip to Detroit, now to just convince some non-niu and niu people to come with me and help "fill" Ford Field
Might prefer visting Eml Street rather than me returning to any more nightmares in Detroit for Freddie Krueger III.
Losses we can most afford to least:

1. Bowling Green (another division so don't have to worry about tiebreakers at all)
2. Ball State (already w/ 2 losses and still face Toleo so will probably finish w/ more losses than us)
3. EMU (Root for Ball State to beat them on Saturday so they can have 2 losses. They would still need an unlikely loss to either Buffalo or Kent State for the last game to not be for the division title though)

To survive any loss of course requires Toleo to lose another. A tie with Ball State or EMU is bad news obviously because of the head-to-head, and a 3 way tie created w/ Toleo goes to SOS I believe which doesn't appear to bode well for us.
Scenarios give me headaches and fits to spell.
My aging and decaying brain only can handle so much to consider and worry about.

Just win out is all I wanna think about.

Lose any of the three and we are likely screwed.

BTW: Is CMU last team to beat NIU in Huskie Stadium?

Idaho 2009 was the last team to get a win @ HS.03-puke

The final 2008 CMU was the last MAC team to defeat NIU in Huskie Stadium. This game went into OT and CMU won the MACC that year. That was the only game that NIU lost at home that year.

2007 against BSU was the last time that NIU lost a MAC game in regulation @ HS.
Cybes, wasn't Idaho in 2009 the last team to beat us at Huskie Stadium? Pretty sure it was.
Dirty coated bastards they both were.

Just kidding. We were our own worst enemy in both those home losses.
How awesome it would be if we had played to our potential in those losses and defended our doghouse.
The CMU loss was brutal. We made a great comeback to tie the game at the end of regulation, then in OT then-freshman QB Chandler Harnish threw an interception. LeFevour and the Chips took possession and scored. Chandler was not the QB he is today. Wouldn't be great to have seen Harnish and LeFevour square off at the height of their powers?
