Boise State president Bob Kustra said dominoes would begin falling all over the college football landscape. The Broncos would join the Big East along with Central Florida, SMU, Houston and Air Force. Louisiana Tech and New Mexico State likely would go to Conference USA, and Utah State would join the Mountain West from the Western Athletic Conference.

Haha. Well adding NMSU and LaTech would just lower the stock of CUSA even further after losing UCF, SMU, and Houston, ensuring that the belt would overtake them in conference power rankings.

I'll bet Bob Kustra knows less about CUSA's plans than Arkstfan's dog does.
What does NMSU bring to the table? LaTech maybe, but NMSU?
Really? La Tech makes sense for football, but NMSU? Um...that's just stoopid (Yes, Techsters it's called a "sense of humor." I realize I should have written "stupid.")

I thought UTEP could not stand NMSU ?
Do you think with these choices that they are trying to send the eastern schools a message? Find a new home, and if Beebe comes aboard do you think he can negotiate a better TV deal and land ECU, MARSHALL, UAB(if the dont drop) and ODU(since ole bud is there)
Could happen..hearing reason their not taken UTSA is because the wins count as FCS team...

stupid reason, http://blog.mysanantonio.com/utsa/2011/1...ino-falls/
I don't believe that at all. LA Tech and NMSU don't fit the C-USA model, but I guess we should find out in the next few weeks.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Maybe Kustra meant to say The University of New Mexico ?

The last figures I seen stated that the NMSU Aggies had a
budget of 25 million dollars. Budget wise they might fit into
CUSA. Their basketball is usually fair to good, with fair
attendance.

I don't know why CUSA would go for NMSU, Unless UNM is
for some reason not going to be available ?
Kustra might want to turn back the pages of time slightly. The minute NMSU was headed toward WAC, UTEP was clawing to get out.

The only sales pitch for NMSU is that in many sports you can fly to El Paso and get in two games.

Tech? Nothing would shock me. They can be taken without harming a viable FBS conference. Right now the most worried people in college athletics in order are: Idaho, NMSU, SJSU.
I say let that happen. SBC is never going to grow if we keep getting raided and having to replenish with FBS teams. It will make a weaker CUSA and the SBC only to get stronger and pass them.

But that's only if we stay a united front, because I still see them going for a F_U to keep that FL footprint.

GO OWLS!
& SBC!
The original remark sounds like little more than conjecture from Kustra. Basically what he said was "I think La Tech and NMSU will go to CUSA." the fact that he's the president of a university and the comment was made in print is why people are thinking it's legitimate, but he didn't even go so far as to say "NMSU and La Tech are in talks with CUSA" or "I've heard..." or anything like that, the way he stated it pretty much just comes offf as his opinion and nothing more.
For years Tech has been crying for CUSA. I know from reading their board some of them must have aged years pining away for that conf. Possibly now they may get in ...but if they do I hope CUSA invites everyone they mean too except Tech and has to wait a couple of weeks to invite them...just to add a little more stress to those idiots. I was really hoping they would be left out in the cold by all the FBS conferences...'sigh'...
UNM is already in the Mountain West.

NMSU would provide a permanent cross-conference rival. But I don't see how adding NMSU in principle would make any bit of sense. It just doesn't.
Kustra has no real clue as to CUSA's intent.03-melodramatic They have several options on the table that are being studied.

Wow. You would have made a good Catholic priest in the dark ages. 04-jawdrop
Read that yesterday. If it had a source (not even a reliable one, just a source), it would have appeared somewhere else too, IMO.
T won, I have visited the La.Tech board many time in the last few years, as has many others on this forum. After reading all of the sunbelt smack over there the last few of years, it is frankly hard to muster up anything but contempt for the Techsters. I understand that all of you are not all the same but most of the folks over there are pretty obnoxious. This is why you read all of the comments about how they hope you guys get left out.

Exactly Fish!! I hope Tech gets their wish.. It wont matter.. We will out recruit them again this year in football. Basketball will be better than them. Baseball will continue to be better than they are.
