Now, it seems the race is on for #12! BYU, Temple are the two I think that will be considered first in that order. Do we take BYU in for 12th Football team and Temple for B-ball and all other sports and the next in in football if we goto 14 or if anyone leaves?

I know they supposedly said No, but I still have hopes that it'll be Army and we'll be home to all 3 service academies. This would be a very good outcome for us, politically, as we look to our future.

Don't see army moving in, nor a good fit for the BE. Also doubt BYU would be a option as they feel they might be in play for B12, but if they want to go fb only then that would allow them to get in a BCS conference and stay away from sunday play. Just don't believe they are ready to go that direction.

Can't do that. Besides there is no need for another non-FB team. And certainly not one in Philadelphia (I think Nova's argument against them would be valid on that ground)

They could have gone to the Big XII if they wanted to: they had fundamental disagreements. They may enterain the BE since it only would concern their football program, unlike the Big XII which would encompass all sports.

First choice has to be BYU but I don't see that being very likely. It should come down to Temple, ECU, and Memphis for the 12th spot, each have their own positives and negatives. Personally I think ECU is the best choice, great fan support and a strong football program that would immensely benefit from being in an AQ conference. I think ECU could definitely become the top dog in football in North Carolina and I like the idea of planting the BE flag right on top of Tobacco Road as a big middle finger.

I like buy but their new tv contract with Espinoza will be trouble specially if big east goes with someone else for its tv deal. So more likely we add Memphis,ECU and Temple and go 14/18 but ECU would need to agree to football only

On another thread, someone suggested that BE expansion was done by John Marinatto using a map of the US and a dartboard.
I sort of pictured the conversation looking like this:
John Marinatto is being played by Catp. Zapp Brannigan
Staffer is played by Kif
Tom Jurich is played by Turanga Leela
John - Here comes the throw.. Bam, what we'd hit? Looks like I hit Japan. Son of..., that is genuis. A trans continental conference!
Staffer: Sir, that is Colorado...
Marinatto: Colorado? Who the **** is Colorado?
staffer: The state where Denver is, sir
Marinatto: Denver?
Staffer: Uh.. Yeah
Marinatto: Oh, you mean where the Kansas City Chiefs play
Staffer: [Sigh]. You mean "Denver" Bronco's
Marinatto: That's what I said damnit. don't correct me
Staffer: So what do we do
Marinatto: Uh.... Let's add the university of Denver
Staffer: [Sigh] Air Force is nearby, John.
Marinatto: That's Mr. Manarrito to you!
Staffer: You mean Marinatto?
Marinatto: That's what I said, damnit
Staffer: So we invite Air Force?
Marinatto: That is fine. Well, they will need another branch of the government with them. How about the IRS. That will save the BCQ dibs for sure.
Staffer: [shakes head] the "BCS Bid" is secure with Boise, and I can't believe you thought Boise was in Seattle last week. But may I suggest another Service Academy
Marinatto: Fine, we'll invite the Coast Guard. That works well with astronauts.
Staffer Sir, the Coast Guard doesn't field a football team. And the Air Force does not go into outerspace.
Marinatto: But I hear they have a great basketball teams on the atlantic coast, and they must good guard play.
Staffer: That's the Atlatic Coast Conference, not the coast guard. The coast guard doesn't field division 1 sports
Marinatto: .......
Staffer: Tell you what, let's just call Army or Navy
Marinatto: That sounds like it would hurt.
Staffer: [shakes head] I said ARMY and NAVY, not an arm and a... Hey look over there [points out window] and watch the pretty birds.
Marinatto......
Staffer: [picks up phone] Hi, Mr. Jurich, Mr. Marinatto thinks that Air Force and Navy might be good additions.
Juirch: That's not a bad idea. Something's not right here. Are you sure it was John's idea?
StaffeR: Yes, he came around to it. His decision making process is, well, "in"-credible
