Per Alex Kline ex players Nolan Smith and Kyrie Irving hosted Tony this weekend.I just wondered if that is a violation of any kind and do we ever have ex players do it?

Former Duke players Kyrie Irving & Nolan Smith spent the weekend with 2012 Miller Grove (GA) big man Tony Parker while he visited campus.

Tyreke hosted Bledsoe
Yep, that's a violation. When Reke did it, he was still enrolled which was prior to the NBA draft and legal. Irving and Smith are NOT eligible and gave up their elgibility to enter the draft, therefor are NOT allowed to have any influence on a recruits decision. It would be no different than Penny or Rose hosting a recruit today. #ncaaviolation.

Duke must be really feeling the heat to cut corners these days. First the Poythress incident and now this. At one time, I liked Duke, back in the Hill/Hurly/Laettner days, but now they are proving that they aren't a clean cut program as everyone once thought they were.

The only way I could see this being legal is IF neither have signed any type of deals including endorsements, etc and are enrolled into classes.
Don't know if it's a violation but Smith and Irving were no longer enrolled. Tyreke was still enrollled at that time, if I am not mistaken.

That's what I thought. No way then can that be legal and not a violation.
What is the official rule as stated in the rule book? Is it that any former player cant host or a currrent Nba player cant host? If its current nba player cant host maybe the lockout makes it not a violation.

It all depends on whether the stripper presses charges.
UNC got in trouble a few years back when Vincr Carter and another former UNC player played some pickup ball and encouraged imam Shumpert to attend UNC. This was on campus. It was a definite NCAA violation.
duke is duke. nothing to see here. move along.
...depends on whether you're looking at the BCS rulebook or the non-BCS rulebook ...
Coach K will be rewarded for thinking outside the box.
They're Duke. What do you think?
I'm 40 and have watched basketball for 35 of those years. My father was a high school coach in west Tennessee and made several trips to the state playoffs in the 70's.Nothing has ever made me madder than watching Duke get away with violations that they profess to being above and watching them get calls during games. This was posted on ESPN's site and if it is a violation, what is the over/under nothing happens lol?If Bruce Pearl was still coach he would report if Hassim Bailey was taking a dump at the Finch Center when a recruit was visiting and we would end up having to forfeit the season lol
Wow
Maybe it's just me but I don't ever see Tony Parker as a Dukie...

His mom is supposed to really like Duke.
If it's a violation for an NBA player to host a visit, then wouldn't it be a violation for Luke Walton to host our visits?

Nobody is an Nba player right now because of the lockout though.

Really this is one of those stupid rules that shouldnt even be a rule
no, walton is an employee of the u of m.
i don't think it's a dumb rule. it'd get crazy if penny had to do our recruiting to compete with MJ at UNC and magic at MSU, etc
