This midweek football shall be the death of fan interest in this conference. College football is meant to be played on Saturdays. Period. End of subject. How unfortunate that such a vital game for the conference is going to be played on a Tuesday evening.

Awful.
ya this is ridiculous. I might have to quit my job to go!!! but in reality i am stuck here!

Yeah, and on National TV! What a disgrace!
My problem used to be PTO. Now I have plenty of PTO and no money. Still gonna make it to Toledo, just not spending the night.
Especially for a league where member schools are geographically close- travel is usually a matter of 3-4 hours tops. Doable with ease on weekends- not so much on Tuesdays. But the TV thing is nice.
I agree completely it should be on Saturday. However I am one of the guilty ones with an insatiable appetite for football who will watch a game on a Tuesday or Wednesday night. Christ, I was watching FIU vs Troy the other night. Part of the problem is people like me who keep the ratings up for ESPN so they can continue to hold college football squarely by the balls.

Television has really taken over the sport.

I agree. I hate these non-Saturday games. We have 4 of them in a row now to finish the regular season, 2 on the next 2 Tuesday's (11/1 and 11/8), and then 2 on Friday's (11/18 and 11/25). Sucks!!!

In 3D too!
I watched Rice vs Houston.
I would never care but it was on Comcast.
It is a shame we couldn't have all our games on Comcast.
9 TD's for the Houston QB
Agree somewhat/disagree somewhat.

A national audience may just tune in on a Tuesday night to check out any football game...and NIU v. Toledo..it is argued is not just any FB game (to those in the know). Every bar/hotel lobby/dorm room/prep FB jock's tv.. throws up the football game that is on...that's worth something. On a Saturday, our audience is not captive and it is not national. The faithful will love this on a Saturday, but an argument can be made for the status quo. The phone calls I get from those who know I am a Huskie...happen to come during or following these exact games. On a Sat, folks are tuning elsewhere.

And, yes...many of us watch any FB game that is on during the week...I happen to love it.
If they are going to do weeknight games, why not do them in August and September when the weather is better and more conducive to drawing bigger crowds? Won't happen, however, because ESPN rules the roost. If ESPN tells the MAC to play games at 10:00 p.m. on a weeknight or 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday, the MAC will bend over and take it with smiles on their faces.
Since it is an away game that I can get with my limited cable package, I am happy. Because of this mid week scheduling I get to spend more time with all my family on my only guaranteed day off (Saturday).

These are the type of games that make the weeknight scheduling worth it. If this game were on a Saturday afternoon the glass bowl would be packed and we would still likely only get to watch it on ESPN3.com or WPWR in non HD.

The winner will likely get the next weeks game on ESPN2 while the loser will be on ESPNU.

My problem with the MAC/ESPN contract is having a game on a weeknight but the game not being on real TV along with ESPN3.com getting first dibs evoking the blackout rule.
Just like how the NFL only plays games on Sundays right? Errrrr, and Monday.... AND Thursday!!!

We have 4 in a row too, 3 in a row on Tuesday and then the Friday after Thanksgiving.
It sucks for me, because I work nights. I'm going to miss most of the back end of the season. Sigh.
Disagree, this is easily one of the top games in the MAC this year, and deserves to be on national cable. If ESPN thought Tuesday was the only day they could make that happen, then Tuesday night it is.
It's a good night for recruits to watch the game. The fact that it is a national broadcast that is not competing with the NBA or World Series is a good thing.

In this case, its beneficial to have this game on a weeknight, its two of the best teams historically in the conference in what should be basically a MAC West CHampionship game. Thats something thats good to show off to the nation. It will be MAC football at its best. Its basically having the entire slate of games to weeknights which is so damaging. To sacrifice all of college football saturdays that last half to one third of the season is what is awful. But in this particular case, having NIU on national TV being the only game of the night, is a bonus.
Ah yes, take the bait, feed the troll. WD is a clown and just tries to stir sh1t up. He's an old hag.
I don't like mid-week football, but when you consider that this is the only nationally televised sporting event on Tuesday (with the exception of a stray NHL game on Versus), it is the exposure you would like to have.
