Assume he is a walkon. From the tryouts?????
youtube highlights

i couldn't find very much about him other than this video.
....and, EMU79, how did you find that before me?!?!?!?!? i check the roster constantly, obsessively even. 04-cheers
Kid is a walk on with a feel for the game. Impressed at the tryouts bvut he definately needs to get stronger. I seen him for a fwew mins at the Sat practice prior to the FB game, seems to fit in well but he is awful skinny.

One of the student assistants told me that Harrison has game and that Harper ain't bad either.

I think Murphy is a great hire and we should see results in year TWO. 03-idea

The newcomers and returnees will be eligible and blended by then.

FB and basketball are very different games and I believe a hoops teams can be rebuilt by the RIGHT coach in two years (FB is 3 or 4).. As they say in the commercials: "Your (teams) results may vary".

As is true of FB, there is a lot of parity in MAC hoops and the difference between a winning and losing record need not be too much.

I check the athletic site now and then when I'm not checking out the recruiting sites. Speaking of which I think Scout now has bypassed Rivals for information on EMU football. Rivals doesn't even have all our verbals correct.

You are absolutely right.

Scout is dead on with EMU football recruiting info.

Rivals is way behind.

I get the scout.com e-mails. Many of them are of little value (who cares about a 4 star recruit?), but they are right on with commits and a lot of their alerts concerning a player EMU is recruiting.

I like the alerts which are titled: 'new commit for Eastern Michigan'. 03-cloud9

I absolutely agree. With all the transferring players eligible next year, it should be a deep, talented team in 2012-13.

My feeling is that a good coach, with some luck, can turn a basketball program around in 1 or 2 years, though it might take 3 or 4 to really see what they can do. A football program takes 3 or 4 years to turn around, and the turnaround probably won't be done until year 5 (or even 6). This is why it hurts the MAC so much when the successful football coaches are hired away after just 3 years. The program in question might look better, but it's not really on a solid footing and able to smoothly weather a transition.

Agree.

It might take one additional year to turn around a team in the Big Ten, say an Indiana, Minnesota, etc.

Murphy might well be happy with a few good JUCOs recruits this year if he thinks he can double the '12 wins over the '11 wins.

I can see easily see this team win 7 games this season and 14 next when all of the talent is experienced and ready to win.
Anyone know anything about Strickland? Is he also a walk-on from the open tryout? He's listed as a transfer from Adrian who sat out last year, but I can't find any mention of him from EMU prior to this fall...makes me wonder if he transferred for non-athletic reasons (academic, financial, personal, whatever) and then tried-out to walk-on with the team this fall.
Strickland is a transfer as stated but is also a walk-on to tbe best of my knowledge. We have a lot of open scholarships to give.

I met Strickland this summer at the Convo, a very nice kid who prepped at Robichaud HS, Antonio Green's alma mater. Greene is also a great guy and I look for him to have a real good senior year.
