Toledo - Toledo Continues to be the only team who consistently shows up in conference games
BGSU 3 Other than one awful game against WMU they have been the best
NIU - Hard fought win against Buffalo, NIU is currently at the top of the 'rest in the west
TEMPLE -2 The Good news for Temple is that NIU gets a crack at Bowling Green, because the Falcons control the east
Ball State 1 I'm still not completely convinced they are in the top three in the west but doubt is quickly evaporating
Ohio 1 Akron is just what the Bobcats needed to get back on track, their game against Temple will make or break them
EMU 1 Ok I'm starting to believe this is going to be a seven win team. But with 2FCS games will that be enough?
WMU -4 The Bronco's are going to struggle to get to six wins, and are behind NIU, Toledo, EMU, and BSU… No this is not their year
CMU - What a let down against the Cards. Central and Western are doing their part to make a log jam above them
Buffalo - Great effort by everyone but Buffalo's special teams. Aside from the Temple Game UB has managed to be competitive in the MAC
Miami -1 Miami's life has not gotten any easier after their non conference games. You can't play Kent every week
Kent -1 Kent looked better today than any other this year, yes it was a bye week.
Akron - Circle November 12th on the calendar. The Akron - Kent game could be epic.
1. Toledo 5-3
2. Temple 5-3
3. NIU 5-3
4. Ohio 5-3
5. BG 4-4
6. EMU 5-3
7. WMU 4-4
8-13. Not worth ranking
... I'm sick of people putting Temple ahead of other teams that they lose too. It doesn't matter what you do out of conference. It's a new season starting in the MAC and Temple is 3-2.
Toledo 4-0
EMU 3-1, lost to the only undefeated team.
NIU 3-1
Ball State 3-1
BGSU 2-2
Temple 3-2
WMU 2-2
OU 2-2
Who cares after this

Huh? They have been the best at what? Was that sentence not completed? They are 2-2 in the conference right now.
I'd sure take NIU in a game with BG.

They couldn't beat cmu and almost blew it vs. Buffalo... BGsucks beat their only weak opponent Miami by a good margin.

People need to stop with the EMU back-handed comments, what else do we need to do besides rising the dead? 05-mafia05-mafia no Bull...

So are you ranking the teams for the full body of work or just how they perform in conference? The latter is foolish, the season is the season. And you can't always put teams ahead of others they've beaten, it just doesn't work that way. Last I checked, Temple beat the snot out of Ball State, how can you have them two spots lower?

So are you really telling me that if EMU and Temple played on a neutral field, you think EMU would win, and apparently handily? That's ridiculous.

Well, we'll get that chance in a couple weeks. Unfortunately for us, the game is at BG. We have been very, very, very, very, very bad on the road this year.

What back handed comment?

Ok I'm starting to believe this is going to be a seven win team. But with 2FCS games will that be enough?

Temple sat out with eight wins last season and just one against an FCS squad... If EMU gets just five FBS wins would that be enough for a bowl to take them? (WMU was 6-6 and sat home)
I would drop Temple down a few spots. Until they show they have even an average passing game, they will not win anything. (MAC East...MAC Champ Game...Bowl Game) Above average "D", running game & special teams and NO passing game is not going to help you obtain your goals.

Even if you look at OOS, Temple lost to the only solid team on their OOC scheduled, Penn State. Penn State has been aided by an easy schedule so far too. Toledo and Temple are both 5-3 overall right now and looking at the SOS that each school played, if anything you give the nod to Toledo for the much harder SOS.

If you still think Temple should be ahead of Toledo after Temple having two conference losses, one to Toledo, and Toledo being 4-0 then you are not looking at it subjectively and letting a bias against Toledo come out.

As for Temple's impressive OOC win over Maryland, the Terps are 2-5 and have lost three in a row after beating a FCS school. There two wins are against a Miami team that had players suspended for violations and a FCS school. Temple dominated them, no doubt, but Maryland isn't very good.

You're as good as your record.

I'd sure rather see BG play Akron instead of NIU.

Where in his post did he say that Temple should be higher than Toledo? His biggest comment is that it's silly to have BSU over Temple when Temple killed them (same argument you keep making for Toledo being higher than Temple).

It is hard to criticize Temple's OOC performance. They barely lost to PSU who is ranked higher than OSU, whom you guys just lost to. That loss looks pretty comparable to me.

You're joking, right? UT beat BG at home on their Homecoming day and you say they've been the best other than one game against Western? I'm thinking you meant "best of the rest" but that's not what it says here.
(10-23-2011 01:06 PM)CMUprof Wrote: [ -> ]Where in his post did he say that Temple should be higher than Toledo?

I'm guilty of bringing other posts by him together and replying at once on this one. He has talked many times before about having Temple ahead of Toledo and he has used the point that Temple was more impressive in their other games and the fact that they were 5-2 while Toledo was just 4-3 overall. So, it took the various posts to form my opinion and post it here on this thread.

You mean the game we won on the road during the other team's Homecoming? (Who plays their rival for Homecoming?) That would be Bowling Green State University. Thanks, NIU007. 03-wink
